The Filmmaker’s Podcast #291: Getting your movie greenlit by a studio with Yariv Lerner producer and Exec producer of Expendables, Rambo: Last Blood, Hellboy & The Dare!
Today, our host Giles Alderson welcomes a very special person to the podcast: The man who greenlit his debut feature film, Yariv Lerner. Now, not only does Yariv run Nu Boyana Film Studios, the biggest film studio in Eastern Europe, but he is also the executive producer or producer of films like Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017), Acts of Vengeance (2017), Hellboy – Call of Darkness (2019), The Dare (2019), Angel Has Fallen (2019), Rambo: Last Blood (2019), and Expend4bles (2023). As you can see, Yariv is an amazing guy. And he was so kind enough to sit down and talk about what it’s like to run a studio, what he wants from a writer or director, the difference between producing & exec producing, and what made him decide to make The Dare. He also discusses how to handle difficult situations on set, when to step in as a producer, but also when to step back. Lastly, he presents Film Forge, his new training program, which you can join today. This episode is a must-hear. You don’t want to miss this. So sit back, relax and listen to this week’s episode with the amazing Yariv Lerner.
