‘AEW Dark: Elevation – Episode 75’ Review
Welcome to this week’s review of AEW Dark: Elevation, the opening salvo in the AEW wrestling week. Once again we’ve got the duo of Tony Schiavone and Mark Henry on commentary this week… Let’s see what the show has to offer!
Match #1: Ruby Soho & Skye Blue def. Nikki Victory & Megan Meyers
My Thoughts: You would’ve expected a squash match here but that’s not what we got. Victory and Meyers instead held their own, for the most part, against Soho and Blue. I really dig Megan Meyers look – the horror fan in me can appreciate another genre fan for sure!
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #2: Parker Boudreaux def. Casey Carrington
My Thoughts: Now THIS was a squash match! Former NXT star Parker Boudreaux played the Brock Lesnar card and made short work of Carrington, who only got two hits in before Boudreaux finished him off.
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #3: Athena def. Queen Aminata
My Thoughts: And we’re back in quasi-squash territory again, with Queen Aminata getting a bit of offence in but Athena being in total control for the entire match. A match that felt very much like a “blink and you’ll miss it” kind of match IMHO.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #4: Kiera Hogan & Leila Grey def. Alice Crowley & Freya States
My Thoughts: Kiera Hogan and Leila Grey came out for this fighting and that’s how they left. They should’ve kept the fighting to their opponents, who in the early going looked more impressive than the two baddies! Ultimately this was a quasi-squash of the typical AEW variety.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #5: Dark Order (John Silver and Alex Reynolds) def. TUG Cooper and Lord Crewe
My Thoughts: Alex Reynolds was on FIRE in this match, pulling out some outstanding moves and keeping up a fast pace that made quick work of TUG Cooper and Lord Crewe. Though props to Lord Crewe for managing to stand out in a match that features limelight-stealing Johnny Hungy!
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #6: Lucha Bros def. Wingmen (Peter Avalon and Ryan Nemeth)
My Thoughts: Great to see the Lucha Bros. in action, even if it was on Elevation AND against the Wingmen! The Wingmen took their defeat like men however, allowing Andrade and Rush to come out post-match to further the feud that’s brewing between these two tag teams.
