For those unfamiliar with the series, The Filmmakers Podcast is a podcast about how to make films from micro budget indie films to bigger budget studio films and everything in-between. Our hosts Giles Alderson, Dan Richardson, Andrew Rodger and Cristian James talk how to get films made, how to actually make them and how to try not to f… it up in their very humble opinion. Guests will come on and chat about their film making experiences from directors, writers, producers, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers and distributors.

The Filmmaker’s Podcast #288: “Prey” – on making a Hollywood Blockbuster with producer Jhane Myers & 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg

This week, we have two more filmmaking legends for you on the show: Producer Jhane Myers & director Dan Trachtenberg. Jhane has worked on movies like Apocalypto (2006), The Lone Ranger (2013), and Wind River (2017), and today she’s here to chat with our hosts, Giles Alderson and Dom Lenoir, all about the Predator-prequel Prey: She talks about how she turned Marvel down to get on board as well as her involvement on the script and on set. Dan, on the other hand, talks about how he thought about making this film for over 30 years and how he prepped the film. He also discusses his workflow with his DOP, shot lists, action, one-takes and the importance of good locations. We had an absolute blast chatting with these two brilliant filmmakers. You’ll love this. We promise. So, sit back, relax and listen to this week’s episode with Jhane Myers & Dan Trachtenberg.
