For those unfamiliar with the series, The Filmmakers Podcast is a podcast about how to make films from micro budget indie films to bigger budget studio films and everything in-between. Our hosts Giles Alderson, Dan Richardson, Andrew Rodger and Cristian James talk how to get films made, how to actually make them and how to try not to f… it up in their very humble opinion. Guests will come on and chat about their film making experiences from directors, writers, producers, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers and distributors.
The Filmmaker’s Podcast #284: ‘Wolf’ – Making a film with Universal and the Art of Casting & Rehearsing with writer-director Nathalie Biancheri
oday, we welcome writer-director Nathalie Biancheri to the show! She is the mind behind the feature films Nocturnal (2019) and the art-house drama Wolf (2021), starring Lily-Rose Depp, George MacKay, Paddy Considine, and many more! Nathalie sat down with our hosts, Giles Alderson and Dom Lenoir, to talk all about the making of her two feature films. She really goes in-depth on the whole pre-production work. She discusses her casting process, what it was like to lose her lead actor a few months before shooting, and why you shouldn’t write for a specific actor. She talks about the importance of rehearsals, directing actors, the creative process behind Wolf, budget, and finally, what it was like to have Universal on board. All that and more is to come in today’s episode. So, sit, back, relax and listen to this week’s episode with the rather delightful Nathalie Biancheri.
