The Filmmaker’s Podcast #278: Masterclass on Directing: How to have a successful career in TV & Film with Joss Agnew
Today on the show, we welcome Joss Agnew. He has been a TV director for over 20 years. His work includes Hollyoaks (2001), The Story of Tracy Beaker (2002), Dream Team (2003), Young Dracula (2006), Law & Order: UK (2013), The Split (2020), The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022), only to name a few. He chatted with Giles Alderson and first-time host Huw Siddle all about his long career in filmmaking. He talks about what it’s like to jump into an existing show as a director, the difference between TV and feature film directing and his background as an editor. He also discusses pitching, actors and working with the same crew from project to project, how he preps for a scene and why asking questions is so important. We loved chatting with Joss. It turned out to be an epic masterclass on TV directing. So, sit back, relax and enjoy not only Giles’ live intro from Cannes Film Festival but this week’s episode with Joss Agnew!
