‘Evil Bong 888: Infinity High’ Review

Seventeen years after the original, and four years since the last film in the franchise, Evil Bong 777, Evil Bong 888: Infinity High brings the saga of EeBee to a close. At least that’s what director and Full Moon head honcho, Charles Band (Parasite, The Gingerdead Man) is saying now, but as we all knew, he’s never met a sequel he didn’t like.
Rabbit (Sonny Carl Davis; Killjoy’s Psycho Circus, Saturday Morning Mystery) has finally decided to turn over a new leaf and become a legit businessman, a restaurateur to be precise. While his first day in business doesn’t bring him much business it does bring him a Maître d’, or Maître Double d’ as he puts it, Thomasina “Tom” Atkins (Diana Prince; The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, Devil’s Triangle).
But there are also problems in the kitchen His chefs Sal Monella (Israel Sharpe) and EeBee, once again voiced by Michelle Mais, are not getting along. And we won’t even mention a pair of less than motivated waitresses played by Bree Essrig (Blood Shed, The Axe Murders of Villisca) and Whitney Moore (Satanic Panic, Another Yeti a Love Story: Life on the Streets). Or the fact he forgot to order food.
Kent Roudebush (Corona Zombies, The Dead Want Women) who’s written all of the sequels since Evil Bong 3: The Wrath of Bong is also on hand for EeBee’s swan song. And for better or worse with Evil Bong 888: Infinity High he serves up another helping of what viewers have come to expect from the franchise, weed jokes, horrible puns and lots of cleavage and bare breasts.
Evil Bong 888: Infinity High also features cameos from a couple of Full Moon’s puppet characters The Gingerdead Man and The Gingerweed Man. And from Kendra (Robin Sydney; American Muscle, Weedjies: Halloweed Night) and Barbie (Cody Renee Cameron; The Amityville Moon, Alien Expedition) from Barbie & Kendra Save the Tiger King and a few others.
The plot, as if anyone expected Evil Bong 888: Infinity High to have a plot, is basically just a framework to hang a series of sketches on as EeBee deals with the lack of food by adding huge doses of THC to what little they do have. So we have adult actress Christiana Cinn and a couple of friends showing up and getting so stoned from dinner that they take their shirts off.
Then some other Full Moon alumni, Joe Cracker (Circus-Szalewski; Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made, Road to Red), Redder Neck (Kaius Harrison; In a Valley of Violence, Any Bullet Will Do) and Crack Whore (Noelle Ann Mabry; Verotika, V/H/S Viral) show up to be annoying, “This is better than possum!”, stereotypes. And so on and so forth until everyone ends up back in Bong World and the movie, along with the franchise, comes to an embarrassing end.
By this point, I’m sure most of the viewers of the franchise are Full Moon cultists who will get the massive amount of self-referential humour in Evil Bong 888: Infinity High and get a good laugh from it. For anyone else, it’s going to provoke more puzzled looks than laughs. Not that the rest of the jokes are any better, but at least you’ll know why you’re not laughing.
One thing that will annoy fans and non-fans alike though is the film’s length. Evil Bong 888: Infinity High isn’t even an hour long, clocking in at fifty-nine minutes. While some will be angry and feel cheated by that. I, on the other hand, was upset because it was about fifty minutes too long.
