2022 Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship
Apex legends is a battle royale style first-person shooter that has emerged from the shadows of Fortnite to become one of today’s most popular games, with the Apex Legends Global Series by far the game’s biggest tournament. Last year’s inaugural tournament was one of the few successful events launched in 2021, and it made a big splash in the industry with a prize pool of $2.5 million. Thanks to the success of last years ALGS, the prize pool has been doubled for 2022, with qualification already taking place online before the final stage, which will be held in July.
League of Legends World Championship 2022
League of Legends is one of the worlds most popular esports games and a big part of why the industry is flourishing. There are hundreds of leagues and tournaments for LOL, but the most competitive are the 12 domestic leagues taking place throughout the year leading up to the annual world championship. This tournament was launched in 2011 to limited fanfare with only eight teams competing in the final stage, but today this number has expanded to 24. The 2020 and 2021 editions were held in Shanghai and Reykjavik respectively, but prior to this, the LOL World Championship was famous for being held across multiple locations. With the world beginning to open again in 2022, Mexico City, New York, Toronto and San Francisco have been named as hosts, although dates are yet to be confirmed.
2022 ESL Pro League Season 15
Despite being held solely online; the ESL Pro League is hugely popular with both players and spectators. It is one of the elite tournaments for Counter-Strike Global Offensive, an exciting team-based first-person shooter. The 15th edition of the ESL Pro League started in November 2021 with a group stage and will conclude with a final to be held in April. It is believed to have a prize pool of over $800,000 and is sure to be extremely competitive.
