‘AEW Dark: Elevation – Episode 24’ Review

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to a special bonus episode and review of AEW Dark: Elevation, the fourth of FIVE All Elite Wrestling shows this week… It’s all part of the build to tonights Rampage. And you know what? Unlike that other promotion, watching this many episodes a week has not been boring or monotonous! Bring on Rampage I say!

Match #1: Santana & Ortiz def. Warren Johnson & Zack Mason

My Thoughts: Johnson & Mason got one move in before Santana & Ortiz took this match over and showed just why they’re considered one of the best tag teams in the business.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: Nyla Rose def. Steff MK

My Thoughts: This was a typical Nyla Rose squash match with a neat gimmick from the MK twins – with Steff rolling out to be replaced by her “fresh” sister Ashley. Props to both MK sisters for at least not lying down and taking a beating!

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #3: Emi Sakura def. Madi Wrenkowski

My Thoughts: Emi Sakura returns to AEW after being off TV since 2019 (for obviosu reasons *cough* pandemic) and I thought she was in for an easy return to TV but Madi Wrenkowski surprised with some decent offence, proving that yes, appearing regularly on Dark and Elevation (as well as training) pays dividends, with Wrenkowski obviouslty improving every outing. Still didn’t stop Emi Sakura from destroying her though!

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #4: Private Party def. Will Allday & Edge Stone

My Thoughts: This was just a squash match to up Private Pary’s win count. Nothing really to see here and it was over before it began.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #5: Daniel Garcia def. Matt Sydal

My Thoughts: Jesus, Garcia is getting a rocket-fuelled push isn’t he? He gets matches against top AEW talent and now Sydal taps out to a sharpshooter to give Garcia a win. To be fair to Garcia, he is a total badass with a reputation that totally backs up the push he’s gotten in AEW so far – and this match showcased all his skills in a teaser what to expect in tonights match against Jon Moxley.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2/5

Apart from the main event this was something of a throwaway epsiode of Elevation and something of a huge comedown from the rest of this weeks shows. But hey this was, in the end, short and sweet… and a nice filler until Rampage.
