The Filmmakers Podcast #178: Piers Tempest on Producing The Wife, Killing Bono, Churchill, Military Wives and Love Wedding Repeat

This week Giles welcomes back Ian Sharp from Sharphouse Films to co-host our interview with Piers Tempest, producer on The Wife, Killing Bono, Military Wives and Love Wedding Repeat about the craft and intrigue of producing at different levels of the industry. That’s right, it’s a full-on producing masterclass. Piers tells us his route into film, how he got into the world of production, avoiding sharks and throwing himself into productions to learn the ropes. Ian quizzes Piers on development finance and pre-selling films to ensure they have a commercial life after production. How do you deal with a difficult agent? How do you move from different budget brackets? And what are the benefits of developing your own material with a writer or director? Piers generously offers a huge amount of advice in all of these areas.
