‘All Elite Wrestling: Dark’ Review (June 2nd 2020)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dark review, right here on Nerdly. We’ve got about an hour of wrestling to get to, so let’s get to it.

Match #1: Billy Gunn w/ Austin Gunn def. John Skyler

My Opinion: 2.3 out of 5 – Skyler worked well with a slightly slower, but still skilled Billy. As a match, this was too short to really get going, but it was all decent for a few minutes and that’s some-thing.

Match #2: The Butcher and the Blade def. Joe Alonzo and Jon Cruz

My Opinion: 2.3 out of 5 – This was a squash match, but it went a bit longer than most. There’s not much going on here that was worth remembering, but the match did let us take an extended look at B&B and that’s a good thing.

Match #3: Christi Jaynes def. Kilynn King

My Opinion: 2.2 out of 5 – I didn’t get much out of this, but not for a lack of trying. Jaynes and King made the most of a few minutes, but that few minutes never seemed to be on a clock that was running right.

Match #4: Santana and Ortiz def. Big Game Leroy and EJ Lewis

My Opinion: 2.5 out of 5 – How many damn squash matches are you gonna book for one show? Well, at least this lasted a few minutes. It feels like S&O were more over on the indies and in Impact than they have been in AEW. Big Game…that’s not a bad name. As squashes go, this match was a lively little sucker.

Match #5: (Main Event) The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall) def. Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon

My Opinion: 2.7 out of 5 – While going less than ten, this match had solid fundamentals and kept the action going in the right spots. That being said, the end was marred by too much malarkey and that just let all the air out of the balloon (no fart noises though…damn it).

News Of The Night:

  1. QT Marshall is being teased for a relationship angle with Allie (Cherry Bomb).

Final Verdict: 2.4/5

This had too much squash bullshit, but the wrestlers that needed a win got one, so that’s better than nothing.
