Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Yuji Nagata in the main event. Yeah, this is a pretty cool chance to see something rare with Yuji in America. Okay, let’s see if this all turns out well enough.

Match #1: The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser and Brawler Milonas) defeated The Kingdom (TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia), Coast 2 Coast (LSG and Shaheem Ali) and Alex Coughlin and Clark Connors – Four Corners Survival Match

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

The Kingdom hit House of 1,000 Horses on Connors, but LSG pump-kicked O’Ryan before he could make the cover. Ali tried to steal the pin, but Beer City Bruiser broke it up. Shortly thereafter, The Bouncers hit Closing Time on Coughlin for the victory.

My Opinion: 2.5 out of 5 – This was a fun melee that was not one of the most concise matches, but it worked for what it had to do and provided some nice spots along the way.

Match #2: Josh Woods defeated Maverick Boone

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Woods kicked Boone in the midsection and hit a gutwrench bomb, followed by the Seismic Toss. Woods covered him for the victory. Time of the fall: 52 seconds.

My Opinion: 1.5 out of 5 – At least the toss was good. Actually, this match wasn’t much because there just wasn’t much to work with. Woods might actually have the goods his nick-name states, but you’d never know it because you only see him so briefly. Anyway, this match was shorter than my review of it, so there you go.

Match #3: (Main Event) Los Ingobernables de Japón (EVIL and SANADA) defeated Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Nagata hit an exploder suplex on SANADA for a near fall. Nagata then put SANADA in the Nagata Lock, but EVIL made the save. SANADA hit a missile dropkick on Nagata to turn the tide in LIJ’s favor. Kojima regained the advantage and scored several near falls on EVIL. Ultimately, EVIL and SANADA hit Magic Killer on Kojima for the win.

My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was a solid match that was made more interesting by Yuji having been in it. Speaking of Yuji, he is a bit slower than he used to be, but after a few minutes, he’s right back to normal speed and he can still wrestle like a house of fire. If I’m being honest, then EVIL and SANADA were fabulous here, but Yuji was the star here. Kojima looked just as good as anyone else, mind you, but Yuji just felt like a big deal. I like all four of these wrestlers, so I had no real expectations about what this match would offer, but Yuji as the talk of the bout was a pleasant surprise. I guess them old folks can still show the young guns how to draw faster than the rest. Is that a Tombstone reference? Anyway, this was a hearty main event that may not have been the great match, but it was absolutely pure fun.

News Of The Night:

  1. The Allure cut a promo where they took issue with the women’s wrestling renaissance.
  2. A nice vignette aired on Jeff Cobb ahead of his World Title match with Matt Taven.
  3. Dalton Castle brawled with The Boys after challenging Dragon Lee to a match at Best In The World.
  4. PJ Black offered to help LifeBlood fight Bully Ray.
  5. Kelly Klein and Jenny Rose will meet Angelina Love and Mandy Leon in a tag match in two weeks.
  6. NWA National Title Match: Champion Colt Cabana vs. James Storm – Next Week

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

If it wasn’t for the main event, this show would have gotten a lower review (probably a 2). I don’t really like the way the booking is going, but this is still a roster of talented people, so there’s still a chance for this to go well.
