The Last Week in Wrestling #19 (Wrestling Round-Up)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have another good week to look at, so let’s hop in the ol’ imaginary ring and help me pretend I know what I’m talking about.

Best Promo:

Major League Dynasty (Major League Wrestling) – MJF and Richard Holliday delivered a promo that was simple and convincing, where the intent to wrestle for the Major League Wrestling Tag Team Titles was declared.

Best Move:

450 Splash (WWE) – On 205 Live, both Tony Nese and Kalisto had a duel of their variations of the 450 Splash that made for an exciting action sequence.

Best Moment:

Cage Attacked! (Impact Wrestling) – Brian Cage was viciously assaulted towards the end of the main event of Impact to great effect.

Best Personality:

Vince McMahon (WWE) – Vince did well in the angle that saw him replace Kofi Kingston with Kevin Owens in the WWE World Title Match at Fast-Lane.

Best Character:

Batista (WWE) – Batista returned to attack Ric Flair (to provoke Triple H) and Batista did a great job as a man possessed by hatred.

Best Performance:

Life-Blood (Ring Of Honor) – The new faction did a great job working together and might just have a real shot at filling the void left by The Elite leaving to create All Elite Wrestling.

Best Wrestler:

Brian Cage (Impact Wrestling) – Cage dominated Impact this week and made a big mark on the league that should be felt for some time.

Best Card:

NXT: UK (WWE) – Every match delivered the goods and that’s the way it should be.

Best Show:

Ring Of Honor – A great main event was the bulk of the show and that made it all work out quite well.

Best League:

Ring Of Honor – The house that Cary Silkin saved had a great week, thanks to a great main event and the theme of athletic competition as the main selling point for the ROH TV show.

Best Match:

Life-Blood versus Team Ring Of Honor: 10-Man Tag Team Match (Ring Of Honor) – This was an excellent match that came so close to being a great one, but the action faltered from time to time, so it didn’t quite get there.

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

This was a pretty strong week for wrestling, thanks to a nice assemblage of quality matches all across the board.
