‘WWE Hell in a Cell 2018’ – Predictions
Welcome to the 2018 WWE Hell in a Cell prediction column, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have several big matches to cover, so let’s do so.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. Rusev & Aiden English (Kickoff Match)
My Take: Rusev was fighting AJ Styles for the World Title a few months ago and now he’s on a pre-show with The New Day, who are a proven draw that deserves to be on the main card as well. The action here will be good and may actually get some time to matter, but it’s hard to climb the ladder when you get kicked down to the bottom every time you reach for another rung.
Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntrye vs. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose
My Take: This should be an excellent match that could be the sleeper hit of the night. I think Drew is going to have his best night since returning to the main roster.
Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
My Take: The Miz should win here to add a bit more of an edge to the #1 Contender’s Match Bryan and Miz will have at the Super Show-Down.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch
My Take: Vince will make the mistake of believing he can get away with replicating the past success of Daniel Bryan and Steve Austin and give Flair the retention of the title. Lynch should win, because this feud doesn’t make any sense, thanks to the people rejecting Flair as a hero and loving the evil Lynch. Lynch should win and make the long, complicated trek back to being a real hero, while Flair should make the very abrupt, easy turn to villainy that makes her work better any way.
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton (Hell in a Cell Match)
My Take: I think this will disappoint people, because it will be a more grounded wrestling match, rather than a wild spectacle. Hopefully, Hardy doesn’t make any dangerous dives from the Cell. The feud might end here, but be kept alive enough to be a part of a Survivor Series match.
Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss
My Take: Ronda should beat Bliss in a good match that will give Bliss more offense than the last time.
WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
My Take: This should be the best match of the night. This time, there better be an actual finish.
Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Hell in a Cell Match with Mick Foley as Special Guest Referee)
My Take: This will be a good match that Strowman ought to win. Reigns might have just won the title, but Strowman would be better for it right now. Reigns can get it back at Wrestlemania or a little earlier, if need be.
