Here is this week’s WWE NXT review for Wednesday June 27th 2018:

Match #1: Kona Reeves beat Max Humberto

This was a quick squash that made Kona look like the wrong guy to meet in a dark alley. Kona seems to grow more self-assured, more aggressive and more dangerous each time he competes between the yellow ropes.

Match #2: Candice LeRae beat Lacey Evans – Women’s Match

Evans got to have the control over the match for most of the time, LeRae was the star here and every-one knew it. It will be interesting to see how often LeRae and her spouse, Johnny Gargano, will team on NXT events, considering the obvious chemistry they would have. Any-way, LeRae looked good here and Evans wasn’t that far behind.

Match #3: Mustache Mountain versus Dave Nixon and Carl Axelrod was non-start

The Undisputed Era beat the drawing potential out of Nixon and Axelrod as they trotted out to the ring. Pissed about losing to the mustache guys, Adam Cole and his friends went after them like Lorraine Gray did to the writers of Jaws: The Revenge for making her act in that movie. Ricochet ran out to save Mustache Mountain and we had a six-man tag from there. Some-times, it feels like Daffy Duck is booking these shows.

Match #4: Main Event – Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) beat Mustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) and Ricochet – Six-Man Tag Team Match

This was, easily, the best match of the night, with great action sequences that made the Seven/Bates duo look as credible a team as any you’ll find this year. Right from the start, we had high-octane action pumping through the veins of every fighter here, with stiff kicks and tight submission holds all every step of the way. This is one of those matches that helps make NXT look like the revolution that it should be, rather than the Rian Johnson/ Last Jedi fiasco that NXT can some-times be. It’s hard to always hear people applaud NXT for being so different from the WWE and, yet, see so many NXT shows that are just 1980s WWF on TBS…yikes. Seven hit a really good lariat at one point, while Ricochet hit a 630 that will just make your crotch shoot up your ass (it’s that good). In the end, Cole got the pin and the win for his team, if only in rather tepid fashion. Well, don’t I sound just all high and mighty?

News of the Night:

  1. Tommaso Ciampa challenged NXT Champion Aleister Black to a title match.
  2. Lars Sullivan now has a broken jaw and may miss some time from the ring.
  3. Vanessa Bourne hates Kairi Sane’s pirate outfit.
  4. Johnny Gargano wants another match with Tommaso Ciampa.
  5. Candice LeRae wants the NXT Women’s Championship.

Final Verdict: You wouldn’t know that NXT is supposed to be this great thing if you watched this show, but the main event was great and one of the best WWE matches this week.
