WWE Raw – June 25th: Results & Recap
Welcome to the first in our expanded coverage of wrestling here on Nerdly. We’ll be presenting RAW/Smackdown/205 Live/Main Event results and recaps after each episode and we’ll have column at the end of the week where we name the best matches of the week, the worst moments of the week and the biggest news items about the company from the whole week…
With the being said, here are the results for WWE Raw from Monday June 25th 2018:
- Match #1: The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) beat Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley – Tag Team Match
A good but pointless match that pushes a feud that only needs to be about the Universal Title, not how they hate each other for trying to win it.
- Match #2: Curtis Axel w/ Bo Dallas beat Matt Hardy w/Bray Wyatt
This was a quick, lame match that did no one any favors.
- Match #3: Authors of Pain beat Rich and Rex Gibson – Tag Team Match
This was a typical squash match that led to nothing worth remembering.
- Match #4: Natalya (w/Nia Jax) beat Alexa Bliss (w/Mickie James) – Women’s Match
The better wrestler won here in a match that could lead to a title shot for Natalya over the RAW Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss.
- Match #5: The Riott Squad beat Bayley, Sasha Banks and Ember Moon – Six-Woman Tag Team Match
This was a decent match that featured the right victors, but the match is tainted by another “reluctant partners” angle, albeit one that has been built for months.
- Match #6: Mojo Rawley and No Way Jose was a no-start
Mojo just insulted No Way Jose’s congo line members and left, more or less.
- Match #7: Braun Strowman & Kevin Owens beat Finn Balor & Baron Corbin by count-out in a Tag Team Match
This match featured the third “reluctant partners” angle of the night. The match was of solid length.
- Match #8: Main Event – Seth Rollins beat Dolph Ziggler (w/Drew McIntyre) by disqualification for the Intercontinental Title
The best match of the night and one that went almost thirty minutes. This one is certainly worth your time, even with the bad finish in place.
News of the Night:
- Big Van Vader was given a video graphic at the beginning of the broadcast, but no tribute video later on. If now can’t be Vader Time then when?
- An angle was run where Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman got the Extreme Rules Multi-Man Match cancelled. Now, it looks like Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley will wrestle for contender-ship of the Universal Title instead at Extreme Rules.
- Bayley had a “heel turn” after months of Sasha Banks being a prick to her. The crowd loved Bayley throughout the whole thing. Bayley was sent to counseling by Kurt Angle forth attack, which would of come in handy for hundreds of wrestlers from this company over the past thirty or so years.
- Braun Strowman flipped Kevin Owens’s car over after chasing him to the back for leaving their match. It would seem that the two are now locked in a feud over the Money in the Bank briefcase Strowman now holds.
- Drew McIntyre cost Seth Rollins the Intercontinental Title in the Main Event.
