With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on February 23rd 2018, I got a chance to speak with actor Vincent M. Ward about his character in The Walking Dead, being selected to play one of the 5 Evils and working on set with so many horror icons.

How did you first get into acting?

I kind of fell into acting by getting fired from a couple jobs for no reason and I decided to go watch a play for the first time in my life and fell in love with acting that day… Everything that’s negative can really be a positive to put you in the position to find your true love and for me its acting…

You are probably best known for your role in the hit TV show The Walking Dead, which you joined in Season 3 as Oscar. What was it like coming into such a successful show and becoming a fan favorite even though you only appeared in 8 episodes?

It’s a blessing because they kill people off so fast, I’m grateful to been able to stay around that long and most importantly the fans showing me so much love to this very day. I guess Oscar’s performance was worth people wanting to see more of him.

How did you become involved in the film?

Honestly, I was just shocked to be asked to be part of such a legendary horror cast. Death House is the beginning for Thile and the 5 Evils, but there’s much more to come in Dawn of 5 the Evils. Lots of great and creepy acting from the entire cast.

Can you tell me a little bit about your character?

My character is tall, dark, handsome and EVIL…lol

What preparation did you do for the role?

No prep, just act. My size and voice make it a little easier to be creepy

Death House has assembled the biggest cast of horror icons in one film. What was it like being a central part of the story in such a landmark film?

I was asking myself everyday how did I get here and it was honor to work with people who has scared me in the past. So, when we weren’t filming I was over in the corner looking and smiling at everyone.

What was your favorite scene to film in the movie?

I can’t mention any scenes, just make sure you guys go out and watch it. My favorite scene was being in a scene.

Due to your height and size it is easy to cast you as the tough guy, CIA agent etc. But given the opportunity are there any characters which you would like the opportunity to portray on screen?

I’m going to portray a character I put together called Devilreaux and he is being called the new face of Horror. Sometimes you have to create opportunities for yourself

Do you have any other projects which you are working on at the moment?

Devilreaux is coming 2018. I begin filming Snowfall, I’m on a show called Black Jesus, a movie called Encounter and a series called 86 Zombies.

If someone is looking to get into acting, what advice would you give them?

Have a lot of patience, tough skin and faith…If you don’t have this then Uber is always hiring
