Revealed! Tank Girl ‘Lori Petty’ photo variant by Jamie Hewlett

by Kevin Haldon

Some days you just wake up, The birds are outside your window singing your favorite song and you have that feeling like today is going to be a good ass day! Yesterday was one of those days (sort of). I wont bore you with a day in the life of Kevin Haldon 365FlicksPodcasting Host Supremo but I will tell you about the email that was the icing on the cake of my Thursday.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that I am a bit of geeky nerdy nerd. What may come as a surprise to some though is that through my geeky-ness I have quite an affinity to your more shall we say guilty pleasure movies and what not (get your mind out of gutter). One such movie for me is the Lori Petty (Orange is The New Black, Point Break) driven Tank Girl, while this movie is not exactly 100% true to its source, it is a fun as all hell comic book movie which is based off of a comic book I happen to be into. You may chastise me for my appreciation to this flick and you are well within your rights to but hey we all have our quirks.

So to the email at hand…

The awesome folks over at Titan Comics, sent over an email that really struck a few of my geek nerves. Tank Girl, the comic book, has been back a short while with Alan Martin behind the pen writing stories for the characters he loves so dear and Brett Parsonson art, for what has been coined as a Tank Girl Trilogy. Starting with Two Girls, One Tank back at the beginning of 2016. They followed that with Tank Girl: Gold which is currently selling now.

Now Febuary 2017 will see the third part of this trilogy with World War Tank Girl which I myself am really forward to reading, BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE, for you see my friends you know those great variant covers that are now a big part in comic books today??. Well not only is Tank Girl getting its first ever PHOTO COVER (that’s right a photo cover) but it is also to be a NEVER BEFORE SEEN set photo of Lori Petty (Tank Girl herself) from the 1995 classic by comic book co-creator Jamie Hewlett.

I know right, that’s exactly what I said too! So this is me passing along my excitement and just want to say thank you to the comic gods for making this happen, not only do we get more kick ass Tank Girl but we are getting a variant I personally can’t wait to pick up. If you too are looking forward to this I will add some important details below:

Writer: Alan Martin
Artist: Brett Parson
FC – 32pp – $3.99 – On sale: February 15, 2017

With a few bars of gold left, and Sub Girl’s uneasy feeling that she left something behind, Tank Girl hires her scientist friend to reinvent time travel. The Third Reich have no idea what is coming their way!
