Debra Messing was in attendance Saturday night to celebrate the premiere of the film Butterflies of Bill Baker. Messing was joined by VH1 Gossip Table personality Delaina Dixon, and more, as well as the stars of the film, Will Chase, Sterling Jerins, Zuzanna Szadkowski, and Polly Lee. The film’s producer Reema Dutt and director Sania Jhankar attended as well as Angeli Kakade, the film’s music supervisor singer/songwriter.

Butterflies of Bill Baker revolves around a sweet and sensitive man, Bill Baker, who lets life pass by him. Living a seemingly normal life, Bill suffers from Pavornocturnus, which is a real condition that causes people to commit violent acts in their sleep. Suffering through the condition, Bill resorts to a new, yet dangerous technology that has serious mind-altering side affects.

Shot all over New York City, the film was a finalist at the Chris Columbus Vague Award, where director Sania Jhankar was able to receive a development grant. Also, before the filmmakers decided to cast Sterling Jerins for the role of Annie, the filmmakers auditioned over 100 children to come up with the perfect casting choice. The film also stars Will Chase (Smash) as Bill Baker, Sterling Jerins (World War Z) as Annie, Zuzanna Szadkowski (Gossip Girl) as Monica and Richard Short (Public Enemies) as Mac, and Olek Krupa (Salt). The film was shot in 21 days throughout the summer of 2012 and was first premiered at the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Girl Film Festival. The festival helps promote aspiring women filmmakers from all over the world to make their film and have the work they strived to make be seen and appreciated.

Earlier on in he night in the LES, Messing and other guests were treated to Baked by Melissa cupcakes and DL cocktails. As part of the Manhattan Film Festival, the film’s world premiere took place on June 29 at Hunter College, located at 695 Park Ave. in Manhattan.

Butterflies of Bill Baker will be coming out soon and will continue to be screened at film festivals. You can see some of the events of the premiere in the video below along with some images from the event beyond that:
