Dave Bautista & Jason Momoa team up in ‘The Wrecking Crew’

by Phil Wheat

Two of modern cinema’s most charismatic heavy-hitters are finally joining forces. The Wrecking Crew, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) and written by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project, This Is Where I Leave You), will see Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa share the screen for the first time in a long-anticipated collaboration.

Produced by Jeff Fierson, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris, the film is being positioned as a high-octane action comedy with more on its mind than just explosions and wisecracks. According to the filmmakers, The Wrecking Crew is driven by the “electric chemistry” between Bautista and Momoa, who have reportedly been looking for the right project to work on together for years.

In this action comedy, two estranged half-brothers, Jonny (Jason Momoa) and James (Dave Bautista) are forced to reunite after their father’s mysterious death. As they set out to uncover the truth, buried secrets resurface and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart.  Together, they are ready to WRECK anything that gets in their way.

Alongside its powerhouse leading duo, the cast includes Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, with Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin rounding out an impressively eclectic ensemble, promising both blockbuster scale and character-driven storytelling.

While action and humour are front and centre, The Wrecking Crew is also described as a story of brotherhood, family, redemption and masculinity, tackling the idea of confronting the parts of your past you’ve tried to outrun. In other words, expect bruising set-pieces, plenty of banter, and a surprisingly heartfelt core beneath the chaos.

With Bautista and Momoa finally sharing the spotlight, The Wrecking Crew already feels like one of those crowd-pleasing genre pairings fans didn’t realise they needed until now. Check out the trailer below:

The Wrecking Crew will be available globally on Prime Video on 28th January 2026.
