Vilpa Max Launches in January – A New Global Platform for Award-Winning Short Cinema

Vilpa Films, the production company founded by Mexican producer, filmmaker and author Alejandro Vilpa, is stepping into the streaming space with the launch of its brand-new platform, Vilpa Max, arriving on January 31st.
Designed specifically to champion short-form cinema, Vilpa Max aims to give short filmmakers from around the world a genuine shot at reaching a global audience. The platform will initially roll out across the UK, North Africa and the Middle East, with further territories planned further down the line. Viewers will be able to choose between a free, ad-supported tier or a paid subscription option, priced at £4.99 in the UK and $3.99 across the Middle East and North Africa.
The launch slate is an impressive one, led by Philippe Pollet-Villard’s Oscar-winning The Mozart of Pickpockets, alongside Cyrus Neshvad’s Oscar-nominated The Red Suitcase and Yi Tang’s Palme d’Or-winning All the Crows in the World.
Also featured at launch are Poof from director Dean Anderson and Love is Blind by Dan Hodgson, both of which were official selections at the Cannes Film Festival. They’ll be joined by Lisa Cole’s Bienvenidos a Los Ángeles, shortlisted at the 96th Academy Awards, and Nocturne in Black, a title that built strong momentum and critical support during its international festival run.
Speaking about the launch, Alejandro Vilpa explained:
At Vilpa Films and Vilpa Max, our mission is to champion extraordinary cinema while creating a bridge for emerging filmmakers to enter the international distribution landscape. We curate and produce work that stands alongside Oscar-winning and Cannes-acclaimed films, offering audiences a catalogue defined by vision, craft, and cultural impact. At the same time, we empower new voices by giving them opportunities to gain international visibility and positioning as they continue building their careers.
With an awards-heavy launch lineup and a clear focus on elevating short-form storytelling, Vilpa Max looks set to carve out a meaningful space for filmmakers and film fans alike.
