‘Screamityville’ Blu-ray Review

We are currently full force into the spookiest season of the year, Halloween. There are always certain houses that, when it hits this time of year, go all out to make their yards into a true house of horrors. Borderline Media has released a Blu-ray that features some of the coolest and spookiest decorated houses… Screamityville.
Screamityville is an 84 minute tour of some of the creepiest and most creative halloween themed houses. It recreates the experience of driving around on a late October evening in search of your favorite decorated homes in your neighborhood. However, in Screamityville… they could be favorite, or your worst nightmare. The program is set to a soundtrack of eerie ambiance and spooky sound effects.
Screamityville is not a documentary; this is simply a tour of some houses decorated for Halloween. I have to be honest, the tour is awesome, but I would have loved to see interviews with the people who decorate these homes. That would have made this amazing! On a side note, I love the name – it is a take on the classic horror film The Amityville Horror.
Screamityville has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The Audio is Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. But there are no words spoken, no interviews produced. All this video has is creepy sounds and music. That being said, the film’s transfer to Blu-ray is crisp and clean, and there are no signs of digital artefacts or audio anomalies. As for bonus features, there are none. It is a bare bones release and that is a shame.
Upon watching this release, it made me think this would make a great video to run in the background of a Halloween party, and thankfully there’s an automatic looping feature on this disc, making it perfect for background ambience. Or this film could give you some great ideas for decorating your house for the season too!
