‘The Walking Dead: Dead City – Season 1 and 2’ Blu-ray Review
Stars: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kim Coates, Lauren Cohen, Logan Kim, Zaljiko Ivanek | Created by Eli Jorne

I don’t think anyone imagined that Halloween Night 2010 would change the landscape of horror TV. That night would start a zombie revolution with the show The Walking Dead. We would learn to almost consider these characters like family. And when they would be taken away, it would break us!
Even though the original show ended its run in 2022. The Walking Dead universe is alive a well. With the characters we know and love having their own series. In 2023, sworn enemies Negan and Maggie find themselves in the same city and must work together in the series The Walking Dead: Dead City.
Season 1 Synopsis: The series introduces us to a broken Manhattan, overrun with the undead and ruled by chaos. Maggie, now a hardened leader, joins forces with former nemesis Negan to rescue her kidnapped son, Hershel (Logan Kim – Ghostbusters), from the clutches of the sadistic Croat (Željko Ivanek – Seven Psychopaths, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). Joined by mysterious newcomer Ginny (Mahina Napoleon – NCIS: Hawai’i) and pursued by merciless marshals, the pair journey through New York’s crumbling skyline where horrors lurk around every corner and not just the flesh-eating kind.
Season 2 Synopsis: Picking up where the action-packed first season left off, we see our uneasy allies thrown into opposite sides of a brutal turf war that threatens to consume what’s left of civilization. New alliances are formed and old loyalties are tested as the shadowy New Babylon Federation steps in, bringing with it a whole new set of dangers and political intrigue. With factions at war, vicious new enemies emerging and the walkers more ruthless than ever, Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) must decide whether survival means standing together… or apart.
The Walking Dead: Dead City really expands on the epic story of Maggie and Negan. It’s amazing (without spoiling too much) to see Negan show a tender side yet still be as sadistic as he always was. There are plenty of new, crazy and evil characters in this series. Just like all The Walking Dead shows, there are interesting twists and turns, making this series a really fun addition to the The Walking Dead universe.
If you watched the original The Walking Dead TV series, you know it is violent and has some profanity. Well, just be aware that for this series, they amped up the violence and profanity. This is a kind of show that will stay with you for days. Even give you nightmares.
Acorn Media have gathered the first two seasons together and released them on a Blu-ray set. I love the Wondercon Panel and the “Insiders” featurettes for these episodes – both are a really nice addition. I have always loved combo pack releases.
