‘WWE Raw’ Review (Jun 2nd 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to our review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly! Let’s see what went down on the now Netflix-broadcast show…

Match #1: Triple Threat Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier – Stephanie Vaquer def. Liv Morgan and Ivy Nile

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The final spot for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match was on the line as Stephanie Vaquer, Ivy Nile and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan battled. Vaquer, competing in her first match on Raw as a member of the Raw roster, landed the Devil’s Kiss on Morgan and Nile. Nile hit a powerbomb on Vaquer as Vaquer was giving a superplex to Morgan, but Nile could not gain the win. Morgan hit the Oblivion on Vaquer, but Nile tried to steal the victory, leading to the two fighting on the outside. Nile won the exchange, only to be met with an SVB once she came back inside the ring, as Vaquer punched her ticket to Money in the Bank.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Finn Bálor & JD McDonagh def. The War Raiders

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

With The New Day providing guest commentary, The War Raiders duped Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston into getting involved, forcing the official to send Kingston and Woods to the backstage area. As Erik and Ivar were rolling, Roxanne Perez hit the scene to give The Judgment Day a boost. The distraction allowed Bálor to hit the Coup de Grace on Ivar to get the win.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Jey Uso & Sami Zayn def. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Bronson Reed competed in his first match since his injury in last year’s WarGames Match, and both teams brutalized each other until Sami Zayn and World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso hit a top-rope dive on Breakker and Reed. This prompted Seth Rollins to Stomp Uso to end the match in a disqualification. After the bout, CM Punk arrived to help Uso and Zayn against the attack from Breakker, Reed and Rollins.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Kairi Sane def. Raquel Rodriguez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Looking to make it two-for-two against Judgment Day members, Kairi Sane took on WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez. Liv Morgan attempted to distract Sane, but Women’s World Champion IYO SKY came out to attack Morgan. The brawl allowed Sane to hit the decisive Insane Elbow.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #5: Triple Threat Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier – El Grande Americano def. CM Punk & AJ Styles

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Excluding the 2025 Royal Rumble Match, CM Punk and AJ Styles shared a WWE ring for the first time as each looked to gain entry into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match in a Triple Threat Match against El Grande Americano. Punk tried to unmask Americano, but the Chad Gable lookalike evaded the attempt. Punk went for the GTS on Americano, but Americano countered with an Ankle Lock. Punk got out of the excruciating submission, sending Americano straight into a Styles Clash from Styles that resulted in a long two-count. Punk looked set to win until Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed rushed the ring and beat down The Second City Saint. Sami Zayn and Jey Uso then came to assist Punk and fight off Breakker and Reed. During the mayhem, Styles went for a Phenomenal Forearm on Americano, but Americano headbutted The Phenomenal One and clinched the victory and the final entree into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.75/5

This week’s episode fell short of expectations despite a few high-stakes matches. The main event – the triple threat between El Grande Americano, CM Punk, and AJ Styles – was overshadowed by overbooked chaos involving Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn. Americano’s win felt more opportunistic than earned. Meanwhile, the Becky Lynch / Lyra Valkyria feud dragged on with another predictable brawl and forced stipulations. Other segments, including tag matches with Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh, lacked energy or consequence. Instead of building real momentum for Money in the Bank, RAW leaned too heavily on interference and recycled drama.
