‘WWE Raw’ Review (May 19th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to our review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly! Let’s see what went down on the now Netflix-broadcast show…

Match #1: Finn Bálor & JD McDonagh def. AJ Styles & Penta

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

When order broke down outside the ring, El Grande Americano suddenly grabbed Penta from the front row of the crowd and delivered a loaded headbutt. This allowed Finn Bálor to hit the Coup de Grace on the luchador for the Judgment Day victory.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Match #2: Triple Threat Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier – Roxanne Perez def. Becky Lynch and Natalya

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Lyra Valkyria appeared out of nowhere to pull Becky Lynch out of the ring and ignite a brawl that took her out of the equation. As their melee continued up the ramp, Roxanne Perez hit Pop Rox on Natalya for the three-count. As a result, The Prodigy joined Alexa Bliss in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: Sheamus def. Grayson Waller

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After defeating Austin Theory two weeks ago, Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick to emerge victorious in another banger against Theory’s A-Town Down Under tag team partner Grayson Waller.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Triple Threat Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier – Rhea Ripley def. Kairi Sane and Zoey Stark

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After an early Zoey Stark injury transformed a high-stakes Triple Threat Match into a one-on-one showdown, Rhea Ripley triumphed over Kairi Sane with Riptide. This earned The Eradicator the right to battle in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match against Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez and to-be-determined Superstars on June 7.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #5: Jey Uso def. Bron Breakker (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Seth Rollins used a Paul Heyman distraction to attack World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso from behind and end the match by disqualification. Rollins and Bron Breakker launched a post-match assault on Jey until Sami Zayn and CM Punk stormed the ring to even the odds. As the four Superstars brawled into the crowd, Logan Paul reemerged and knocked out the titleholder with one lucky punch.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s  Raw had its moments but ultimately felt underwhelming. The show opened strong with Logan Paul knocking out Jey Uso, but lacked any follow-up substance. Roxanne Perez’s win over Becky Lynch and Natalya was impressive, yet her sudden alignment tease with The Judgment Day felt rushed and unearned. Rhea Ripley’s qualifier win was expected, though Zoey Stark’s injury put a damper on the match. The main event between Jey Uso and Bron Breakker had potential, but CM Punk’s surprise attack overshadowed any real resolution. Overall, Raw promised big developments but delivered more setup than payoff. Hey, at least we got a banger of an opening match though, right?
