‘WWE Raw’ Review (Oct 7th 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Intercontinental Championship – Jey Uso def. Xavier Woods
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Xavier Woods stayed in control of the action for the majority of his match with “Main Event” Jey Uso, the Intercontinental Champion roared back by catching Woods with the Superkick as his opponent leaped off the top rope. Moments later, Uso followed up with the Uso Splash to pick up his first title defense.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #2: Donnybrook Match – Sheamus def. Pete Dunne
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The brutal Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook Match pitting Sheamus against Pete Dunne incorporated shillelaghs, whiskey barrels, a good Irish bar, the announce table, Cricket bats, zip ties, and even an incredible White Noise off the barrels and through the tables. After Dunne tied Sheamus’ hands behind his back and came at his opponent with the Cricket bat, however, The Celtic Warrior hit Dunne with the Brogue Kick to take home the win.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #3: Natalya, Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega, Katana Chance & Kayden Carter def. Pure Fusion Collective and The Unholy Union
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Lyra Valkyria tagged herself in and blasted Sonya Deville with the leg drop off the top rope for the huge win for her team.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #4: World Heavyweight Championship – Gunther def. Sami Zayn
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Sami Zayn refused to give despite numerous Powerbombs, earth-shattering clotheslines, and submission attempts, The Ring General finally locked in the Sleeper and left the official no choice but to call for the bell.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
OK, so we got a shorter 2-hour Raw tonight but man did that not help the show! Come one WWE, how about keeping the same number of matches on a 3 hour show but squeezing it into a shorter show? It felt like they’d planned two great matches for the new format and then just filled the rest of the time with VERY lacklustre matches and promos. Speaking of lacklustre, what the hell was that 10-woman match? Felt like there was a need to get more women on the show and no one had any idea how so they just stuck them in a multi-woman match. Weak stuff. The Donnybrook match was good but that’s because it was two guys who have a) experience in those matches and b) are always guaranteed to deliver. As for the main event, we got the typical Sami Zayn underdog match – a match we’ve seen a hundred times before but one that’s still a classic. Gunther came out of this match looking strong!
