‘WWE Raw’ Review (May 6th 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. We’ve got the first episode of Raw post-draft, so let’s get straight to it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Jey Uso def. Finn Bálor
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After replacing an injured Drew McIntyre against Finn Bálor in the first round of the King of the Ring Tournament, “Main Event” Jey Uso refused to let the sudden emergence of The Scottish Superstar distract him as he overcame The Prince with the Spear to advance to the semifinals.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #2: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – IYO SKY def. Natalya
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
On the wings of a Damage CTRL distraction, IYO SKY hit the Moonsault on Natalya to soar into the semifinals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Match #3: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Ilja Dragunov def. Ricochet
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although newly crowned WWE Speed Champion Ricochet countered Torpedo Moscow with Recoil for the near-fall, Ilja Dragunov roared back with a superplex/H-Bomb combination to advance to the semifinals of the King of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Match #4: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – Zoey Stark def. Ivy Nile
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Zoey Stark blasted Ivy Nile with the Z-360 to power her way into the semifinals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #5: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – Lyra Valkyria def. Dakota Kai
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Lyra Valkyria hit Dakota Kai with the Nightwing to advance to the semifinals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #6: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Gunther def. Sheamus
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Ludwig Kaiser caused a knee injury to Sheamus, Gunther punished The Celtic Warrior until he had no choice but to tap out to the Half Crab, allowing The Ring General to advance to the semifinals of the King of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Final Verdict: 4/5
Damn, now THIS was a wrestling show! I hope that the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring(s) live up to the tournament on display in this episode of Raw. This week’s show opened strong and then put the foot on the gas with the match between Natty and Iyo which surprised and amazed in equal measure. How can these two women, in the space of one match, put a LOT of the WWE’s women’s match over the years, to shame?! If we can get a match this good here, why can’t we get this EVERY week? Things didn’t let up with the Ilja/Ricochet match either as the pair seemingly decided to try and out-do the previous women’s match and put on one hell of a display – probably my favourite Ricochet match in years! We got a bit of a lull in the next two matches (and one match that didn’t really start at all), almost as if to give us a breather before THAT main event. Good god, Sheamus put that fat joke from Drew McIntyre waaaay behind him in this brutal clash with the ever-awesome Gunther. This feels like a first for me but when I saw this episode of Raw is unmissable, I mean it!
