‘WWE Raw’ Review (Apr 29th 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. We’ve got part two of the WWE Draft, so let’s get straight to it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Gunther def. Xavier Woods

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Despite an extremely valiant effort, Xavier Woods was injured so badly by Gunther that he was left with no choice but to tap out.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Intercontinental Championship Match – Sami Zayn def. “Big” Bronson Reed (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Just when it appeared as if Sami Zayn may overcome “Big” Bronson Reed in a title showdown, Chad Gable launched a sneak attack on the Intercontinental Champion. Reed joined the post-match onslaught, only to drop Master Gable as well..

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #3: Candice LeRae def. Maxxine Dupri

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

When Maxxine Dupri locked Candice LeRae in the ankle lock, Indi Hartwell attacked Ivy Nile, a distraction that allowed The Poison Pixie to pick up the win with the Wicked Stepmother.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #4: Liv Morgan def. Nia Jax

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Liv Morgan took advantage of a distraction caused by a brawl between Naomi and Tiffany Stratton to score a victory over The Irresistible Force with Oblivion.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #5: World Tag Team Title Match – Awesome Truth def. Alpha Academy

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Miz and R-Truth defeated Otis and Akira Tozawa with the Truth-Crushing Finale.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #6: Jey Uso, Ricochet & Andrade def. The Judgment Day

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

A critical mistake by JD McDonagh in Raw’s Six-Man Tag Team main event allowed Jey Uso to defeat Finn Bálor for a monumental win just days before his World Heavyweight Championship Match against Damian Priest at Backlash France.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

Much like last Friday’s Smackdown this episode of Raw was much, MUCH, less about the wrestling and all about the Draft. Even a couple of title matches couldn’t save this week’s show from mediocrity. To be fair, the opening match was good but it was all downhill from there. Hopefully the draft revitalises both Raw and Smackdown and next week’s show has things back on track.
