Friday Night Smackdown – Nov 3rd 2023: Results & Review
Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s episode!
Match #1: Kevin Owens def. Austin Theory
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Kevin Owens took down Austin Theory and Grayson Waller with one punch last week in the backstage area, KO went one-on-one with The 150-Million Hit Man looking for more. The hard-fought showdown ended with Owens countering a superplex with a beautiful fisherman buster off the ropes before finishing his outspoken opponent with a Pop-up Powerbomb/Stunner combination.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: Charlotte Flair & Shotzi def. Piper Niven & Chelsea Green
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Last week on SmackDown LowDown, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Piper Niven challenged Shotzi to find a tag team partner. In response, the unorthodox Superstar recruited the one-and-only Charlotte Flair. Although the titleholders attempted to divide the ring to keep Shotzi from tagging in The Queen, Flair eventually entered the fray and picked up the win by hitting Green with a big boot to the face.
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #3: Pretty Deadly def. The Brawling Brutes
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The brutal showdown pitting The Brawling Brutes against Pretty Deadly featured non-stop action that began before the bell. It also featured dangerous implements, including shillelaghs, an unforgiving bar surface, broken glass, flying trash cans, barstools, tables and bourbon barrels. After Ridge Holland was thrown through a pile of barrels, Elton Prince hit Butch with a bottle that helped Kit Wilson win the advantage on the ropes. This paved the way for the tasty snacks to drive their tough opponent through a table with Spilt Milk for the victory.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #4: Bianca Belair def. Bayley
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before the WWE Women’s Title Match at WWE Crown Jewel, Bayley looked to wear down Bianca Belair for IYO SKY. She had to attempt it alone, however, as Damage CTRL were banned from ringside. In the final moments, The EST of WWE stopped The Role Model from using Belair’s ponytail against her and blasted her with it to set up the K.O.D. for the three-count.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2/5
Frankly, this was shockingly bad for a pay-per-view go-home show. This did almost nothing to sell the PPV and WTF is with having a weigh-in for a wrestling match? Logan Paul has been involved in far too many celebrity boxing matches methinks! The worst offender this week was the women’s tag match which sat Charlotte basically beat the champs single-handedly, making a mockery of Chelsea Green and Piper Niven AND her own partner in the match too! Classic Charlotte booking… and no, that’s not a good thing! The men’s tag was a bit better but it still felt like Butch is carrying his team on his shoulders and Ridege Holland needs to pull his weight going forward. As for the main event, this was about the only match that did any selling for Crown Jewel but still, this felt like the type of match and type of feud we’ve seen before between these too.
