‘AEW Dark: Elevation – Episode 58’ Review

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of AEW Dark: Elevation, we’ve got Tony Schiavone, Paul Wight and Mark Henry on commentary and a swift 6-match card. Let’s get right into the review and the action!

Match #1: Frankie Kazarian def. Teddy Goodz

My Thoughts: Once again Frankie Kazarian gives his opponent space and time to show what they can, all the while being in total control of the match. Kazarian could demolish most of his opponents but the fact he chooses not to is a credit to him

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #2: Diamante def. Ashley D’Amboise

My Thoughts: Ashley D’Amboise is becoming something of a regular on AEW’s Youtube shows and with good reason. She’s acquitted herself well to being an opponent who doesn’t win but doesn’t look like a pushover either. Diamante looked like she had to work a little bit (a little) to get the win, which is a credit to D’Amboise.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #3: 10 Man Tag Team Match – Dark Order’s Stu Grayson, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Alan “5” Angels and 10 def. Chaos Project and Gunn Club

My Thoughts: This was a messy match, as to be expected from a 10-man match but the chaos worked in the matches favour, as did the speed and pacing. Great to see Dark Order pick up a win and not have Alan “5” Angels eat a pin for the faction as usual.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Trios Match – Ruby Soho, Anna Jay and Skye Blue def. The Bunny, Emi Sakura and LuFisto

My Thoughts: LuFisto, in AEW?!?! Love to see it. Shame this match was so short though. To be fair, these women’s trios matches are usually guaranteed to be solid affairs even if they’re short. As this match was.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: Penta Oscuro def. Jora Johl

My Thoughts: You have to wonder what’s going to happen with Jora Johl now Matt Hardy is no longer part of the AHFO. Judging by this it’s not looking good. But Johl can wrestle, which is why he wasn’t totally buried by Penta – who instead gave him just enough room to make an impact.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #6: Top Flight def. The Factory’s Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solo

My Thoughts: A strong main event once again. And once again featuring The Factory who are another team that can be guaranteed to be solid workers and put on a decent show. Of course when you’ve got Top Flight as you’re opponents you’re guaranteed MORE than a decent show! Darius looks like he’s almost back to full speed, while Darius still baffles in his skillset! Great main event.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5
