Controversial actor, producer, screenwriter, martial artist and musician Steven Seagal became a bona fide action icon during his peak years, thanks largely to the success of films such as Above the Law and Under Siege; and now Arrow Video have given the 1992 blockbuster the deluxe treatment, restoring the film and releasing it on 4K Ultra HD, allowing action fans to revisit THE high-point of Seagal’s career in stunning Ultra HD for years to come.
When a gang of mercenaries hijack the USS Missouri during its farewell voyage, their plan is simple: steal the ship’s nuclear warheads and hold the world to ransom. But they’ve overlooked one tiny detail – the ship’s cook. Unfortunately for them, Casey Ryback (Seagal) isn’t just any cook… he’s a one-man army with a taste for mayhem.
Under Siege pulls no punches, delivering a relentlessly action-packed ride packed with explosions, brutal knife fights and larger-than-life set pieces. It’s an unapologetically over-the-top cinematic experience that sticks with you long after the credits roll — and far more than a simple nostalgia trip, it remains a full-throttle action blast that still delivers today.
Arrow Video has performed a brand-new 4K restoration of Under Siege from the original camera negative, fully approved by director Andrew Davis. The film is presented in native 2160p on UHD Blu-ray, featuring Dolby Vision HDR (with HDR10 compatibility). Audio options include the original lossless stereo track alongside a newly created Dolby Atmos mix, while English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing are also provided.
As with all Arrow Video restorations, the results are predictably top-tier. Under Siege looks crisp and clean, with clear, well-balanced audio and no sign of digital artefacts or audio anomalies. The quality of this transfer is genuinely impressive – and Arrow doesn’t stop there. A selection of worthwhile bonus features rounds out the package, including:
Special Features:
- Brand new audio commentary with director Andrew Davis and writer J.F. Lawton
- I’m on a Boat (With a Bomb), a newly filmed interview with director Andrew Davis
- One of the Guys, a newly filmed interview with actor Erika Eleniak
- A Tight Ship, a newly filmed interview with actor Damian Chapa
- The Introvision Files, a newly filmed interview with visual effects supervisor William Mesa

As you can see, Arrow Video has packed this 4K release with new features, ensuring Under Siege feels like more than just another upgrade. Too often, 4K releases are little more than rehashed editions of earlier discs – but thankfully, that’s not the case here. For Steven Seagal fans in particular, Arrow’s new release is an absolute must-have.
