by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling. Let’s get straight into the review of this week’s show – the last before the Final Resolution PPV tonight –  and see what went down on the show…

Match #1: Brooks Jensen def. The Home Town Man

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

We kick things off with TNA vs. NXT action as The Home Town Man battles Brooks Jensen, accompanied by Lexis King. Jensen counters the Home Town Slice early to gain control. Home Town Man turns the tide with a flurry of offense, culminating with the Home Town Slice. Home Town Man takes out King with a dive to the outside. King slows up Home Town Man with his cane, allowing Jensen to score the victory following a running heel kick.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: #1 Contenders Match for the TNA Knockouts World Championship – Xia Brookside def. Dani Luna

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Dani Luna battles Xia Brookside with the winner earning a TNA Knockouts World Title opportunity against Léi Yǐng Lee tomorrow night at Final Resolution! Luna is in control as she targets the left knee of Brookside. The tide begins to turn as Brookside fights through the pain to build momentum. Brookside hits Broken Wings, followed by a top rope crossbody for two. Brookside locks in an Octopus submission but Luna transitions into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall of her own. Luna retrieves her signature steel chain from underneath the ring but is disarmed by Indi Hartwell. Hartwell clubs Luna with the chain as Brookside rolls her up to win.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Match #3: Mike Santana def. Robert Stone

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Former TNA World Champion Mike Santana is out for revenge as he battles NXT’s Robert Stone! Before the opening bell, Stone jumps Santana on the outside. Stone sends the injured right arm of Santana into the steel ring post. In the ring, Santana gains control and hits Spin the Block to win.

My Score: Squash out of 5

Match #4: Mustafa Ali def. Trey Miguel

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Before factions collide at Final Resolution, The Rascalz and Order 4 are banned from ringside for this anticipated singles showdown between Trey Miguel and Mustafa Ali! The early advantage goes to Ali after he catches Miguel with a DDT on the floor. Miguel counters the rolling neckbreaker into a springboard Moonsault. Miguel hits a sliding DDT on the outside, followed by a Meteora for two. Miguel leaps off the second rope to connect with a Destroyer. Ali avoids another Meteora, then locks in the Sharpshooter to win by submission.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #5: Team NXT (Stacks, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe & Lexis King) def. Team TNA (Steve Maclin, The Hardys & Cedric Alexander)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

It’s main event time as Team TNA, represented by The Hardys, Steve Maclin and Cedric Alexander, clashes with the NXT outsiders, comprised of Lexis King, Stacks, Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe! TNA gives them a taste of their own medicine when Maclin and Alexander attack them from behind. Alexander and Maclin launch Stacks over the top rope into his partners on the outside. Alexander is perched on the top but Dupont sends him crashing to the apron. Minutes later, Alexander is able to create separation and make the tag to Maclin. The pace quickens as Maclin goes on the attack, leaping off the apron to take down Tyson and Tyriek with a double clothesline. King capitalizes with a dropkick to Maclin. The match begins to break down as everyone gets involved. Matt counters the Coronation from King into a Plot Twist from both Hardys. Stacks is Caught in the Crosshairs by Maclin. Amidst the chaos, King hits Maclin with his cane. Stacks scores the pinfall for his team.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s show did the necessary groundwork for Final Resolution, but it didn’t do much more than that. It had direction, it had purpose, and it certainly moved pieces into place — yet it still felt oddly flat, like a show waiting for something bigger to happen rather than trying to entertain in the moment. The Dani Luna/Xia Brookside match, with the latter (wrongly) earning a Knockouts Title shot was a solid highlight, and Mustafa Ali’s submission win provided one of the night’s few decisive, satisfying finishes. But too many other matches came off functional rather than compelling, giving the episode a slightly lifeless rhythm. The big multi-man tag should have been a spark, yet its outcome felt more like stalling than escalating the feud, leaving the main event scene without a real emotional jolt. The episode didn’t misfire; it just under-delivered. A serviceable, mildly disappointing chapter that keeps the wheels turning before the PPV, without providing anything – aside from the women’s match – to get excited about.
