‘TNA Wrestling’ Review (May 8th 2025)
Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling. Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on this week’s show…
Match #1: Léi Yǐng Lee def. Rosemary
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Léi Yǐng Lee battles Rosemary after the two were on the losing end of a match against NXT’s Fatal Influence on Countdown to Rebellion. Xia Brookside joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary, who refused to take Rosemary’s advice and use brass knuckles in that match. Lee is control as she delivers a flurry of kicks to Rosemary. Rosemary grabs the brass knuckles but Brookside pries them out of her hand. Lee puts Rosemary away with Thunderstruck!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: Aztec Warriors (Laredo & Octagon Jr.) def. The Great Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch)
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Before the match begins, The Great Hands deliver an ominous warning on behalf of their Order 4 leader, Mustafa Ali. But now, they must face off against the Aztec Warriors in tag team competition! The Great Hands cut off the ring and attempt to ground their opponents in the early going. The action is fast and furious as Laredo and Octagon Jr. soar to the outside with high-flying offense. Octagon puts Skyler away with a modified springboard Moonsault.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #3: Mustafa Ali def. Trey Miguel
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Mustafa Ali spikes Trey Miguel with a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, Ali is methodical with his attack. Ali goes for a rolling neckbreaker but Miguel counters into a cutter. Miguel dives to the outside, taking out Ali on the floor. Miguel soars with the Meteora for two. The Great Hands get involved but Zachary Wentz neutralizes them. Ali sends Wentz crashing into the steel ring post, before Miguel hits him with a tornado DDT on the outside. Tasha Steelz distracts the referee while The Great Hands send Miguel back-first into the hardest part of the ring. Ali puts Miguel away with a new innovative finishing move.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #4: Victoria Crawford def. Brittnie Brooks
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Before she challenges Masha Slamovich for the Knockouts World Title at Under Siege, the new Deputy Director of Authority, Victoria Crawford, makes her TNA in-ring debut against Brittnie Brooks! NXT’s Robert Stone, who has been appointed to monitor the performance of Santino Marella, joins the commentary team. Crawford makes quick work of her opponent, putting her away with an axe kick!
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #5: Dog Collar Match for the TNA International Championship – Steve Maclin def. Eric Young
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
The TNA International Championship is on the line as the personal rivalry between Steve Maclin and Eric Young boils over in a Dog Collar Match! Matt Cardona, who has his sights set on the TNA International Title, joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary. Maclin and Young are chained together with dog collars and it doesn’t take long before Maclin is busted open. It’s three-on-one as Judas Icarus and Travis Williams of The Northern Armory assault Maclin on the outside. Maclin fights back, repeatedly whipping the steel chain into the back of Young. Icarus and Williams are Caught in the Crosshairs. Young capitalizes off the distraction, spiking Maclin with a Piledriver for two. Maclin rips Young off the top rope, then puts him away with the KIA.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3/5
This week’s episode of TNA had its moments of excitement, but ultimately felt a bit uneven as the company heads toward Under Siege. Things started strong with a heated confrontation between Trick Williams and TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, adding real tension to their upcoming title match. However, some segments throughout the night lacked the energy needed to keep that momentum going. The Knockouts division match saw Lei Ying Lee defeat Rosemary, with Xia Brookside getting involved. While the interference added some story progression, the match itself felt rushed and could have used more time to develop. The Aztec Warriors’ win over The Great Hands was fun, but the post-match attack by Mustafa Ali was predictable and didn’t have the impact it should have.
Victoria Crawford’s (fka Alicia Fox) in-ring debut was solid, though the follow-up brawl involving Masha Slamovich and Tessa Blanchard leaned a little too heavily into chaotic booking rather than meaningful storytelling. Announcing the tag match for next week was fine, but it didn’t feel like a major moment. The main event, a brutal Dog Collar Match between Steve Maclin and Eric Young, was easily the highlight of the show. Even then, while the violence delivered, some of the outside interference distracted from what could have been a more emotionally charged finish.
In the end, this week’s show offered some important storyline developments, but inconsistent pacing and overbooked segments held it back from being as strong as it could have been. TNA still has time to tighten things up before Under Siege, but they’ll need a more focused effort next week to keep fans fully invested.
