‘WWE NXT’ Review (May 6th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Six Man Tag Team Match – DarkState def. Joe Hendry and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The trio of TNA World Champion Joe Hendry and NXT Tag Team Champions Hank & Tank looked like nothing short of a dream team but it soon turned into a nightmare for them. The numbers advantage for DarkState proved dividends as Saquon Shugars knocked Walker off the top rope, giving his team a strong advantage. Just when it seemed that momentum shifted, Trick Williams appeared and took out Hendry, allowing DarkState to destroy Ledger and win the match.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Zaria def. Kelani Jordan

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Two of the brightest young stars in NXT shined under the lights as Kelani Jordan and Zaria showed out in front of a raucous NXT Universe. The two Superstars emptied the tank trying to find the winning move, and it nearly came when Zaria countered Jordan’s Split-Legged Moonsault into a Spear, but not even that could end the match. After hitting a marvelous moonsault to the outside, Jordan fell back into Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca’s arms, only for Zaria to come out of nowhere for a huge Spear. Zaria threw a lifeless Jordan into the ring and pinned her, ending the epic contest.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: NXT Championship No. 1 Contender Battle Royal – Winner: Myles Borne

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The match started with a bang when TNA’s Elijah shocked everyone by entering the battle royal, furthering proving that anything can happen in NXT. Trick Williams began to clear the ring of NXT, TNA, Evolve and LFG talent, but TNA World Champion returned to the ring to exact payback from earlier in the night. An incredible Cutter from Evans and a timely pull of the ropes from Page finally eliminated the impressive Sean Legacy from Evolve, leaving the match down to four. Borne, Evans, Ethan Page and Shawn Spears were the last men standing, and despite his best efforts, The Young OG was eliminated by both Spears and Page. With the odds stacked against, Borne dug deep and eliminated All Ego and the leader of The Culling, earning himself a championship opportunity.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #4: Jaida Parker def. Karmen Petrovic

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Ms. Parker is back in the win column as she defeated Karmen Petrovic in impressive fashion. The precision strikes of Petrovic were on full display, but a Hip-notic was enough to turn the lights off. After the match, Parker kept beating Petrovic down, only for Thea Hail to push her out of the way and take the Hip-notic herself.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: NXT Women’s Championship No. 1 Contender’s Match – Jordynne Grace def. Giulia

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Stephanie Vaquer has a new No. 1 Contender and it’s none other than The Juggernaut, Jordynne Grace. Giulia and Grace traded devastating blows, including dueling moves that landed both Superstars on their respective necks, but they somehow managed to continue to batter and bruise each other. The spine-crunching moves continued, but neither Superstar could win the match and head to Tampa for Battleground. A defiant Beautiful Madness refused to relent, but Grace muscled her up for Beastmode to win the match. After the epic bout, NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer arrived on scene and stared down her Battleground opponent.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

This week’s episode of NXT delivered an exciting night of action, blending intense matches with important storyline developments ahead of the upcoming Battleground show. The centerpiece of the night was a thrilling 25-man battle royal, where Myles Borne outlasted the competition to earn a future NXT Championship match against Oba Femi. In the women’s division, Giulia scored a major victory over Jordynne Grace, securing her spot as the number one contender for Stephanie Vaquer’s NXT Women’s Championship. The show also saw the return of Elijah, formerly known as Elias, who made an immediate impact by participating in the battle royal. Overall, this week’s show kept the momentum rolling, offering a strong mix of surprises, competitive spirit, and effective build-up toward a major event.
