Final Verdict: 3/5
When it comes to TNA pay-per-views you can pretty much guarantee you’re in for some great wrestling action across the board. Well that WAS the case, until now… OK, OK, so 90% of this PPV was great as usual but I’m sorry, that final match was risible. I don’t know what TNA think they have in The Hardys but, honestly, they don’t. I get it, the name is synonymous with fast-paced, high-flying action but both Matt and Jeff are both getting on in years and this match showed that in spades. It felt like we were watching a match in slow-mo. Seriously. Thankfully the rest of the card did a LOT of the legwork to make it worthwhile paying for this one – though you’d get more for your money with the offer TNA+ put on! The Hardys was not the only fumble, I – like a lot of fans out there – think TNA made a misstep not putting the belt on Hendry on this show. Now you can argue that making him the underdog, losing title shots and matches until he eventually claws his way to the top, and the title, for a long period of time makes for a great story but… Hendry is RED HOT right now and to not capitalise on that hot streak at what is undisputedly the very peak of that feels like a mistake. What was NOT a mistake however was putting the women’s title on Masha Slamovich. Masha has been putting in the work in both singles and tag divisions for TNA and it feels like she deserves the chance to show what she brings to the table as a champ. I look forward to seeing who TNA lines up as her opponents – hopefully, she doesn’t re-run matches with Grace over and over and we get some new faces at the top of the women’s division food chain.
