by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling, the latest episode under the return of the TNA branding! Let’s get into the review and see what went down…

Match #1: Nic Nemeth def. Trey Miguel

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

After defeating Zachary Wentz last week, Nic Nemeth must now lock horns with another Rascal in Trey Miguel! Nemeth clotheslines Miguel over the top rope to the floor. Wentz provides a momentary distraction, allowing Miguel to take him out with a dive. Back in the ring, Miguel rakes the eyes, then drives Nemeth shoulder-first into the steel ring post. Nemeth creates separation with a mid-air dropkick to counter Miguel’s springboard. Nemeth delivers repeated elbow drops but Miguel kicks out. Wentz trips up Nemeth in the corner and the referee ejects him from ringside. Miguel soars with the Meteora off the distraction but it’s not enough. Nemeth connects with the superkick to win.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Decay (Havok & Rosemary) def. Mila Moore & Savannah Thorne

Match #5: Masha Slamovich def. Jody Threat

Match #6: Best of 3 Series for the TNA World Tag Team Championships – Grizzled Young Vets (Zack Gibson & James Drake) def. ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

ABC and the Grizzled Young Vets kick off their Best of 3 Series for the TNA World Tag Team Championships! Gibson wears Bey down with a headlock. Bey creates separation with a swinging neckbreaker, then makes the tag to Austin. The pace quickens as Austin goes on the attack. Austin takes out both members of GYV with a double springboard dropkick. Austin connects with a stomp but Drake kicks out at two. Bey hits Drake with a top rope Frog Splash for two. Gibson holds on to Austin the corner, allowing Drake to catch him with a running dropkick. Drake leaps off the top but Austin clobbers him with a spin kick. Drake takes out Bey by sending him crashing into the steel ring steps. Austin Soars to Glory as he collides with Gibson on the floor. Drake chokes Austin with his scarf, allowing GYV to put him away with Grit Your Teeth.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

TNA continues its streak with another great episode that is 100% keeping up the momentum from Hard to Kill and the brand change – with both teams and new factions really feeling like they’re truly gelling. In terms of matches we got some OK matches, some good matches and then a fantastic main event, that is only the FIRST in a series of three matches between the two teams! I hope to god they can keep up this for all three matches, it will truly be astonishing if they can (and if they can top this week, even better!) Another unmissable week of TNA… and you can’t say that about some of this week’s “other” shows!
