‘WWE Raw’ Review (Nov 13th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Seth “Freakin” Rollins & Sami Zayn vs. “Dirty” Dom & JD McDonagh (No-Contest)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In the final moments of tag team action, surprise interference from The Judgment Day brought a sudden halt to the match. The bedlam intensified in the aftermath when Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso rushed to the ring to even the odds of The Judgment Day and McDonagh’s post-match attack on Rollins and Zayn. The post-match brawl resulted in an irate Raw General Manager Adam Pearce banning all involved noncompeting WarGames participants from the arena prior to the main event WWE Undisputed Tag Team Title Match.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: Shinsuke Nakamura def. Otis

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Shinsuke Nakamura continued his path of destruction by defeating Alpha Academy’s No. 1 Guy Otis with three Kinshasas! As the dust cleared on the explosive contest, the victorious Nakamura shoved Chad Gable in a blatant attempt to instigate a confrontation.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Tegan Nox def. Piper Niven

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Under the exceptional guidance of Natalya, Tegan Nox returned from injury to battle WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Piper Niven. In the final moments, The Queen of Harts neutralized a meddling Chelsea Green on the ring apron. Meanwhile, Piper got her foot on the ropes after suffering the Shiniest Wizard. Nevertheless, Nox avoided being flattened by the titleholder and rolled her up from the quick three-count.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #4: Ludwig Kaiser def. Tommaso Ciampa

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Although the official ejected him for mid-match disruptions, Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci reemerged in the final moments to hit a drive-by on #DIY’s Johnny Gargano at ringside. This caused a distraction that allowed Ludwig Kaiser to roll up Tommaso Ciampa and steal the win.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #5: Xia Li def. Indi Hartwell

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In a heated one-on-one matchup, Indi Hartwell shared the same fate as Xia Li’s previous targets Candice LeRae and Becky Lynch when the dangerous Superstar blasted her with a devastating kick that forced the official to call for the bell. After the contest, however, Lynch emerged looking for a fight and informed Li that The Man will be coming around for a one-on-one showdown next week.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #6: The Miz def. Ivar

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In his match against No. 1 Contender to Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship The Miz, Ivar began to argue with an observing “Big” Bronson Reed while on the top rope. The-Lister took full advantage of the conflict when he dropped the Viking Raider off his lofty perch and used the ropes to pick up the win.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #7: Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title Match – Finn Bálor & Damian Priest def. Cody Rhodes & Jey Us0

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Less than two weeks before the WarGames Match at Survivor Series, Cody Rhodes and “Main Event” Jey Uso looked to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship from Finn Bálor & Damian Priest. During high-stakes showdown, however, Drew McIntyre suddenly emerged and blasted Jey Uso with a Claymore Kick before throwing him back in the ring. This allowed Bálor to pick up the pin to retain the titles.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2/5

What an awful episode of Raw. Let’s be clear, if it wasn’t for the Kaiser/Ciampa match and the main event this could have qualified for one of, if not the, worst episode of Raw this year. People seemed totally off their game this week, promos felt forced, some wrestlers looked like they didn’t give a shit (or were fighting hurt at best). And everything that wasn’t related to Survivor Series War Games felt like it was being treated as an afterthought too. Avoid the full show and stick with clips this week IMHO
