‘WWE NXT’ Review (Nov 7th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…

Match #1: NXT Heritage Cup Championship – Noam Dar def. Akira Tozawa

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The NXT Heritage Cup remains with Noam Dar, but not before a five-round battle with Akira Tozawa. Tozawa pushed Dar to his limit, but the Meta-Four helped the champion retain his cup, punctuated by a Novaroller.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Match – Tiffany Stratton def. Fallon Henley

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The first qualifier for the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge Match is Tiffany Stratton after a statement victory over Fallon Henley. The tough farm girl gave Stratton a fight, but the Blonde Bombshell targeted the already injured knee of Henley and delivered a Prettiest Moonsault Ever to secure the victory.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #3: Bron Breakker def. Von Wagner

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Bron Breakker and Von Wagner engaged in a brutal battle, but in the end Breakker stood tall thanks to a devastating spear. After the match, Mr. Stone and Von Wagner teamed up to put Breakker through a table.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Roxanne Perez & Kelani Jordan def. Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Roxanne Perez and Kelani Jordan stunned NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament winner Lola Vice and Elektra Lopez thanks to a perfect Split-Legged Moonsault from Jordan onto Lopez.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: Otis def. Drew Gulak

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The powerhouse of the Alpha Academy, Otis, proved that Chad Gable is the better coach as he systematically decimated Drew Gulak, capping things off with The Worm and a Powerbomb.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #6: Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Match – Dijak def. Tyler Bate

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Dijak not only delivered Hard Justice to Tyler Bate, but he qualified for the Iron Survivor Challenge in the process. The Big Strong Boi gave it everything he had, but one Feast Your Eyes from Dijak was enough to end the fast-paced bout.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

Overall this was a good episode of NXT but it felt like a comedown after the past two weeks of Halloween Havoc shows. This felt like a reset in terms of storylines for the black and gold brand – and a continuation of some others started during the aforementioned two-episode special event. It was interesting to see Tozawa get a better match here than he did on Raw the previous night, a much well-deserved opening match showcase. And both the Iron Survivor matches delivered in spades – even if the Dijak and Tyler Bate match wasn’t up to the standards we’ve seen from both men in the past. But hey, once again NXT outshines Raw for another week.
