After battling Bianca Belair in the Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam, Charlotte Flair and Asuka reignited their fierce rivalry. As The Queen of WWE was about to lock in the Figure-Eight Leglock, IYO SKY and the rest of Damage CTRL made their way to ringside. Signifying her emergence at the top of SmackDown, SKY hit a double dropkick on Flair and Asuka, ending the match in a no-contest.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: AJ Styles def. Karrion Kross
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Yelling at Styles to let him “feel his hate,” Karrion Kross overwhelmed The Phenomenal One from the opening bell. Styles got back into the contest with a 450 Splash before Scarlett denied Styles the win. The O.C.’s Michin quelled Scarlett on the outside. With Scarlett taken care of, Styles got the win with the Styles Clash.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #3: LA Knight def. Top Dolla
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After winning the SummerSlam Battle Royal, LA Knight dispatched Top Dolla with the BFT. After the match, Knight mocked The Miz.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #4: United States Championship – Rey Mysterio def. Austin Theory
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Santos Escobar was set to battle Austin Theory for the U.S. Title, but Theory took out Escobar before the match. WWE Official Adam Pearce made sure Calgary received a U.S. Title defense, subbing in fellow LWO member Rey Mysterio for Santos Escobar. Mysterio was all over Theory, and he hit a 619 to capture the United States Title for the third time!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
News of the Night:
- Jey Uso confronted his brother Jimmy and then “quit” the WWE.
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
Well, that was a thing wasn’t it? Outside of Rey Mysterio winning the US Title and finally getting it off Austin Theory, this week’s Smackdown was all about the final segment as the Bloodline storyline continued following the actions of Jimmy Uso during Summerslam, with the topper being Jey Uso “quitting” the company! How long that lasts remains to be seen…
