‘AEW Dark: Elevation – Episode 103’ Review
Welcome back to another review of AEW Dark: Elevation, which features seven matches on the card. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Juice Robinson def. Fuego del Sol
My Thoughts: Fuego del Sol going up against Juice Robinson? I’m not sure if Fuego has had a come-up or Robinson has had a step-down. But given Robinson’s high profile in Japan I didn’t expect him to be wrestling ANY matches on YouTube for AEW… but hey, I don’t know everything. Still a decent match-up and Fuego at least is back working again – dude’s been missed IMHO.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: Athena def. Evelyn Carter
My Thoughts: Hmmmmm, let’s see, an Athena match on YouTube against enhancement talent (aka a jobber) what could the outcome be? Squash!
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #3: Big Bill and Lee Moriarty def. Zach Zilla and Warren Johnson
My Thoughts: And again… Hmmmmm, let’s see, a Big Bill and Lee Moriarty match on YouTube against a couple of enhancement talents (aka jobbers) what could the outcome be? Squash!
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #4: Emi Sakura, Marina Shafir and Nyla Rose def. Leva Bates, Madison Rayne and Willow Nightingale
My Thoughts: Another great match from Emi Sakura and Nyla Rose, two women who are pretty much guaranteed to deliver a great match week in and week out. Plus we got Marina Shafir in the mix again AND the ever-awesome Willow Nightingale in action! What’s not to love?!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #5: Powerhouse Hobbs def. Sal Muscat
My Thoughts: Rinse and Repeat. Hmmmmm, let’s see, a Powerhouse Hobbs match on YouTube against enhancement talent (aka a jobber) what could the outcome be? Squash!
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #6: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) and Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver and Alex Reynolds) def. Matt Hardy, Isiah Kassidy, Ethan Page, The Butcher and The Blade
My Thoughts: Another huge multi-man match that keeps the Page/Hardy/Kassidy story going… I wonder if this will end once Private Party are back to full strength and Marq Quen is back from injury? It’s been a fun story and at least we’ve HAD a story running through Dark and Elevation rather than random matches but I fear this one is running out of steam and becoming repetitive. But ultimately this was a great match and I always enjoy seeing Dark order in action, so there’s that.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #7: Lucha Bros. (Rey Fenix and Penta el Zero Miedo) def. Tony Nese and Ari Daivari
My Thoughts: Great to see the Lucha Bros back in action in AEW, feels like forever since they last wrestled (losing the best of 7 series if I remember right?). Shame they had to face Tony Nese and Ari Daivari though…
