‘WWE NXT’ Review (Nov 29th 2022)
Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Without further ado, let’s get into the review…
Match #1: Roxanne Perez def. Indi Hartwell

Former friends Roxanne Perez and Indi Hartwell battled it out on NXT with Hartwell using her strength, power, and new mean attitude to take control over the smaller Perez. The agility of Perez allowed her to gain some momentum, as a big diving crossbody to the outside of the ring flipped the script. Before Hartwell could deliver the deciding blow with her brute force, Perez knocked her down to the mat, allowing her enough time to hit Pop Rox and seal the win.

Match #2: Dijak def. Dante Chen

After returning to NXT last week and destroying NXT North American Champion Wes Lee, Dijak took to the ring to face Dante Chen. The brutality of Dijak was evident, as he knocked Chen in and around the ring. A visibly enraged Dijak used devastating moves, including a sit-out chokeslam and forearm strikes to the back of the head. As Chen valiantly tried to fight back, Dijak ended the match with a crushing backbreaker into a knee lift, the same move he stunned Lee with a week earlier. After the match, Dijak promised to deliver justice to any and everyone in the NXT locker room.

Match #3: Grayson Waller def. Duke Hudson

Duke Hudson is on a mission to prove that he’s loyal to Chase U and took on the trash-talking Grayson Waller to prove his point. Waller spent his time mocking Hudson and the Chase U faithful, stripping Hudson of his headband and mockingly wearing it as he systematically struck him. Hudson fired back and used his combination of size and power to toss Waller around the ring. Hudson went for a big boot on the outside, but Waller dodged and Hudson stopped himself before he accidentally struck Thea Hail. Chase, with memories of Hudson’s seemingly incidental boot from last week still in his mind, looked on as Hudson rolled into the ring. However, Waller was laying in wait as he hit a rolling thunder Stunner and earned the victory.

Match #4: Kiana James def. Fallon Henley

Trying to prove herself Fallon Henley sent Briggs and Jensen to the back, wanting to defeat Kiana James on her own fair and square. The plan didn’t work early on as James seized control and took Henley down, controlling her on the mat. Henley rallied and used a running neckbreaker and some timely counters to stagger James. As James ran along the outside of the ring, she pulled out her strategically placed briefcase and used it as a distraction to set up the 401K DDT and defeat Henley.

Match #5: Axiom def. Javier Bernal

Weeks of trash talk from Javier Bernal towards Axiom came to a head as the two finally squared off in ther ing. Despite being injured by JD McDonagh a few weeks ago, Axiom came out strong and used his impressive athleticism to guide his offense. Bernal turned his attention to the previously injured leg and began targeting, even slamming it against the ring post. Despite Bernal working over his leg, Axiom returned fire and powered through his injury. The two men found themselves on the second rope where Axiom was able to hit a superplex. The high-flying Axiom followed that up with a Golden Ratio on Bernal and secured the victory.

Match #6: Julius Creed def. JD McDonagh

Despite the size difference, JD McDonagh swiftly took down Julius Creed and kept him down with his technical wrestling skills. Creed was finally able to power his way out of it, but couldn’t catch the speedy McDonagh. The two men battled until Indus Sher appeared, which seemingly sparked Creed’s offense as he proceeded to hit McDonagh with a power slam and a delayed suplex, all while staring down Indus Sher. While on the outside, McDonagh grabbed a chair and in his attempt to hit Creed, Sanga pushed him out of harm’s way and absorbed the shot. McDonagh was disqualified from the match, and Indus Sher told the Creed Brothers that they wanted them at 100% when they eventually face off.

Match #7: Von Wagner def. Malik Blade

A fired up Malik Blade immediately attacked Von Wagner after Wagner ripped the sweater of Blade’s late father last week. Blade’s speed initially neutralized the size and strength of Wagner, but his frog splash went awry, and Wagner picked him up and dropped him with a fireman’s carry into a slam, picking up the victory. After the match, Wagner didn’t stop his assault on Blade but Edris Enofé and Odyssey Jones hit the ring and saved their friend from Wagner’s wrath.

Match #8: Toxic Attraction def. Nikkita Lyons and Kayden Carter & Katana Chance

An attack by Zoey Stark earlier in the night left Nikkita Lyons with an injured knee, but she kept her word and teamed with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter & Katana Chance to take on Toxic Attraction. Action quickly broke down as all six women entered the ring and fought each other with Carter, Chance and Lyons standing tall in the ring with Toxic Attraction knocked to the outside. NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose regained the momentum for her team thanks to a distraction from Jacy Jayne in the corner. As the action went on Toxic Attraction seemed to be in full control, but Lyons entered the match and used her power to buoy her team. Rose and Gigi Dolin managed to subdue Carter and Chance on the outside, leaving an injured Lyons to deal with the entirety of Toxic Attraction on her own. A high-low from Dolin & Jayne buckled Lyons’s knee and allowed Dolin to pick up the pinfall for her team, all while Stark looked on from the crowd.

Final Verdict: 2.5/5
A solid, well-balanced episode of NXT this week, with a great focus on men’s and women’s wrestling and a build for the Iron Survivor Challenge matches to come. There was nothing to complain about really this week once again. Solid but unremarkable.
