‘WWE Raw’ Review (Sep 26th 2022)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this week’s Monday Night Raw, right here on Nerdly. So let’s get into it and see what went down this week…

Match #1: Bianca Belair def. IYO SKY

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Bianca Belair reigned supreme over Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY, taking out Bayley and Dakota Kai at ringside before avoiding SKY’s aerial attack and hitting the K.O.D. for a monumental win prior to Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship Ladder Match against The Role Model at WWE Extreme Rules.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Seth “Freakin” Rollins def. Rey Mysterio

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Prior to his match against Rey Mysterio, Seth “Freakin” Rollins vowed to become the king of the Fight Pit against Matt Riddle at WWE Extreme Rules. When he issued some disparaging words at The Legendary Luchador, though, Mysterio emerged and knocked Rollins out of the ring. In the final moments of the subsequent matchup between Mysterio and Rollins, interference from Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley of Judgment Day, as Seth distracted the official, paved the way for The Visionary to emerge victorious with a vicious Stomp/Peruvian Necktie combination.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #3: Kevin Owens & Johnny Gargano def. Alpha Academy

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Moments after Kevin Owens delivered a jaw-dropping splash to Otis onto the announce table, Austin Theory emerged and failed in his attempt to interfere in the fast-paced tag team showdown. Instead, Johnny Gargano hit an earth-shattering DDT on Chad Gable to secure the impressive victory for him and KO.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Omos def. local athletes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Omos showed why he is the only true giant on Money Night Raw with a display of sheer dominance against two local competitors in a 2-on-1 showdown.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #5: Candice LeRae def. Nikki A.S.H.

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

To the absolute joy of the WWE Universe, The Poison Pixie made a surprise debut on the red brand and overcame Nikki A.S.H. with a Swinging Neckbreaker off the second rope!

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #6: Sami Zayn def. AJ Styles

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Following a heated back-and-forth this past weekend on social media, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles engaged in an extremely hard-fought matchup. The match took a sinister turn when “The Honorary Uce” distracted the official long enough for Solo Sikoa to hit The Phenomenal One with an Uranage Slam on the apron. This paved the way for Zayn to blast his opponent with the Helluva Kick and pick up a victory to make Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns proud.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #7: Matt Riddle def. Damian Priest

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The resilient Matt Riddle managed to survive the ruthless onslaught of Damian Priest by outmaneuvering his opponent in the final moments to pick up for the quick pinfall in the main event.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

News of the Night:

  1. Bayley proposed battling Bianca Belair in a Ladder Match for the Raw Women’s Title at WWE Extreme Rules.
  2. Edge challenged Finn Bálor to an “I Quit” Match at WWE Extreme Rules.

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

A decent episode of Raw yet again but one that loses massive points for THAT Omos match. WTF is not the word. Totally took the tone and pace of the show down. Terrible. The rest of the show was a decent build to Extreme Rules and made me excited to see what that PPV has in store.
