Match #1: Rocky Romero def. Delirious – Pure Rules Match

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Romero applied an ankle lock, and Delirious used the first of his three allotted rope breaks. Delirious hit a neckbreaker and locked on the Cobra Clutch, but Romero used his first rope break. Romero trapped Delirious in a Kimura lock, and Delirious used his second rope break. Delirious applied a Cobra Clutch in a Camel Clutch position, but Romero escaped and rolled on top of Delirious for a two count. After a flurry of near falls by both competitors, Delirious nailed Romero with a punch to the face (drawing a warning from the referee) and covered him for another near fall. Romero, who had been targeting Delirious’ left arm and shoulder during the match, applied the Diablo Armbar, and Delirious tapped out at the 14:51 mark.

The Score: 8 out of 10

Match #2: (Main Event) Jonathan Gresham and Jay Lethal def. Bandido and Flamita

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

A couple weeks after Bandido and Flamita had a falling out at the 19th Anniversary show, they appeared to be back on good terms. Several minutes into the match, Lethal shoved Flamita into Bandido, knocking Bandido out of the ring. As Gresham attempted to get the Octopus Stretch on Flamita, Bandido went for an Enziguri Kick on Gresham but inadvertently nailed Flamita. Flamita went to punch Lethal, who was being held by Bandido, but Lethal ducked. Flamita held up, then intentionally punched Bandido. An irate Bandido took down Flamita and they began brawling with each other. Lethal dropkicked Flamita out of the ring and dove on him. Gresham hit a Dragon Screw leg whip on Bandido, and then Lethal applied the figure-four leglock on him. Flamita slipped under the bottom rope and it looked as if he was going to help Bandido, but he taunted him instead. Bandido tapped out at 13:45. Flamita left Bandido in the ring and headed to the back.

The Score: 8 out of 10

Final Verdict: 8/10

Well, this was pretty damn good. Both matches delivered fabulous action. Our Pure Rules bout was another excellent encounter between two old rivals. There’s a lot of what you could call rather intricate ground grappling. This really felt like an exhibition of wrestling skills as much as an official match. It’s easy to forget that these two have actual wrestling skills, simply because that’s not what’s they are usually paid to do. Delirious is more serious than before and is better for it. Rocky has come along to such a degree that he could be considered a true blue technician at this point. This had that aggressive Japanese flair to it, but without the wild abandon. On the other hand, our main event was a tag match with attitude. Both teams brought a specific style to the contest and implemented their skills to a degree worthy of remembrance. Lucha versus Pure is a bit of a hard sell for some, but I think it worked out well here. The match was quick to get going and steady from there on in. I never had an issue with how this was paced or worked. Despite the difference in methods, this match ultimately was a vigorous fight to the surprising finish. Two matches of differing ideals led to one card of consistent pleasures. I like it when things that are kept simple become a success. It’s a relief…I hate this phone. I’m typing these reviews on it lately and it keeps f–king up the writing. That’s why it’s taking so long. One word took three minutes. Smartphone my ass. Okay. I like the phone. I’m sorry Mr. Phone. Okay. I’m done. The show was good. I’ll see you next week.
