WWE Raw – March 30th 2020: Results & Review

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s Monday Night Raw review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Wrestlemania is this weekend. Will it be any good without a crowd? Will obnoxious internet nerds piss all over the show happening because they’re under the impression all the wrestlers will die from COVID-19 (the flu has killed more this season, if you’re wondering if you should be worried about that still). Hey, it’s wrestling time, damn it!

Match #1: Aleister Black def. Jason Cade

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

With Bobby Lashley looming in the distance, Aleister Black shows no signs of slowing. The former NXT Champion recorded his second near-instant victory in as many weeks en route to WrestleMania, dispatching Jason Cade almost as quickly as he did his foe last week. Given that Black is ripping off displays like this week after week, it’s safe to say he isn’t sweating Lashley … though there’s always a chance he’s fighting himself into a false sense of security.

My Opinion: 1.6 out of 5 – This was a squash ma…are you s——- me?! Are we still doing these horse-s— squashes like they draw? What a waste of Cade and Black.

Match #2: Kevin Owens & The Street Profits def. Seth Rollins, Angel Garza & Austin Theory

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Did Seth Rollins put Kevin Owens in his place last week or light a fire under the former Universal Champion? All signs point to the latter; not only did Owens score the deciding pinfall in a Six-Man Tag Team Match, but he responded to a post-bout blindside attack by The Monday Night Messiah with his most passionate promise yet. The match, pitting Owens and The Street Profits against Rollins, Angel Garza and NXT’s Austin Theory — recruited by Zelina Vega to sub in for an injured Andrade — ended via Stunner to Garza.

My Opinion: 3.3 out of 5 – The wrong teams won in a fun match that was easy to watch, but likely won’t put any hair on your chest.

Match #3: (Main Event) Asuka def. Kayden Carter

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

With a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title defense ahead of her this weekend, Asuka is feeling herself in a major way. In fact, we got The Empress of Tomorrow of old on Raw, from the sneering taunt of “nobody is ready for Asuka” to the minutes-long decimation of NXT’s Kayden Carter, whom she submitted easily with the Asuka Lock.

My Opinion: 1.8 out of 5 – Asuka was good for a squash. We’re really going for the Best Of The Best aren’t we?

News Of The Night:

  1. The Undertaker addressed AJ Styles outside of his “Deadman” character, so the promo was actually great.
  2. Shayna Baszler attacked Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch to sell the title match at Wrestlemania.
  3. Kevin Owens cut a great promo on Seth’s arrogance.
  4. Edge addressed Randy Orton in a great promo.
  5. WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman addressed Drew McIntyre in a great promo.
  6. Becky Lynch/Ronda Rousey/Charlotte Flair title match from Wrestlemania 35 was shown in its entirety.
  7. The Brock Lesnar/Rey Mysterio title match from Survivor Series 2019 was shown in its entirety.

Final Verdict: 2.8/5

As an over-all show, this was okay, but as a final build, it did well-enough.
