‘Ring of Honor’ Wrestling Review (Oct 13th 2019)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have two matches, which is good, considering that this is a wrestling show. Jimmy Kimmel is very attractive on Crank Yankers. I pulled up my Depends and pooped my crap-shaft! It was good. Okay, here comes two matches.

Match #1: Silas Young and Josh Woods beat Coast 2 Coast (LSG and Shaheem Ali)

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Young and Woods isolated Ali early, but Coast 2 Coast used double-team tactics behind the referee’s back to take control and isolate Woods. After Young eventually tagged in, he ran wild on both LSG and Ali. Young hit an anarchist suplex on Ali for a near fall before finishing him off with an assisted cutter.

My Opinion: 2.4 out of 5 – Okay, this didn’t go very long, but it counts. Right? This was a match that wasted a legitimate tag team in favor of a ham-fisted angle between a fantastic wrestler and the serial killer from a grocery store stock room.

Match #2: (Main Event) Jay Lethal (w/Jonathan Gresham) beat PJ Black – Final Battle No. 1 Contender Tournament First Round Match

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Black was a late substitute for Bandido, who was dealing with a knee injury. Black quickly went on the offensive and was in control for the majority of the match. Lethal rallied with a superplex, and then hit a suicide dive, Lethal Combination and Hail to the King, but Black kicked out at two. Black came back with Spanish Fly off the middle rope for a near fall. Black scored another near fall after connecting on a springboard moonsault off the top rope. Lethal went for Lethal Injection, but Black blocked it three times. Lethal hit a superkick, cutter and, finally, Lethal Injection to score a hard-fought victory and advance to the semifinals.

My Opinion: 3.5 out of 5 – This was a fine match that was more methodical than you might think, but it was always exciting. PJ. That’s so !@#$%&? stupid. PJ. Nerd. I could kick his ass/he’d kill me. As famed wrestling pundit “Smart” Mark D. Mark once said “Wrestling only has value when the matches are short and of low quality, so as to not confuse the crowd with so much movement”. He was wrong, but I like quoting people whose ignorance makes my penis seems large. PJ. It’s like AJ, but with a different letter. Lethal and Black had a match so good that even Shrek would drag his green ass out to see it. Overall, the action here was the stuff that it should have been and I think I already reviewed this damn match before. Will you just show some new matches?

Final Verdict: 3.3/5

Only one match delivered the goods (not Josh Woods’s goods), so this show is moderately enjoyable at best.
