‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (Aug 30th 2019)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and the Impact Wrestling site has been taken by a malware/spyware program (as per my computer’s insistence) so we’re going without the re-cap from their site. Anyway, this show has a match or two worth looking at, so let’s look at them.

impact-wrestling-header

Match #1: Golden Magic defeated TJP, Trey and Taurus – Fatal 4 Way Match

My Opinion: 3.1 out of 5 – This was a fun match that had enough thrilling action to make this worth the trouble to have booked at all. I’m surprised that Magic won, but that’s a good thing some-times. You can’t always just go with the safe choice. Every-body looked good here and seemed to work well together. The match is better than the review of it, trust me. Overall, this was a good way to start the card.

Match #2: Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated The Rascalz (Dez & Wentz) – Tag Team Match

My Opinion: 3.3 out of 5 – This was a fine match that had plenty of good things going for it. There was all the action, as fast and as frenetic as you could hope for, like it should be from these guys. Rich is an incredible performer, especially when he gets to focus on being a high-light reel like he did with this match. Mack is ready for a shot at the World Title, but it remains to be seen if his work in a match like this will be the thing to get him there. Dez and Wentz are quickly becoming a great team and if they keep the momentum going, like they did with this match, then the sky will be the limit for them. Over-all, this was just what it should have been.

Match #3: Taya defeated Big Mami – Knockouts Title Match

My Opinion: 1.3 out of 5 – This was a lousy match. That’s it.

Match #4: Chick Tormenta & Jordynne Grace versus Vanilla Vargas & Kiera Hogan – Tag Team Match (No Contest)

My Opinion: 1.1 out of 5 - This was a lousy match. That’s it.

Match #5: Rosemary, Chick Tormenta & Jordynne Grace defeated Madison Rayne, Vanilla Vargas & Kiera Hogan – Trios Tag Team Match

My Opinion: 1.9 out of 5 – This was a lous…I just said that.

Match #6: (Main Event) Michael Elgin defeated Rhino – Falls Count Anywhere Match

My Opinion: 3.4 out of 5 – This was a slow yet strong match that had the right length and really packed a wallop. I can’t believe that this match actually got to happen already, let alone was the kind of match it should have been. These guys hit each other harder than an earthquake in San Francisco. I could go for a few more these matches with these guys if that’s the plan.

News Of The Night:

  1. Johnny Swinger is coming to Impact Wrestling, very soon.
  2. Sami Callihan wants a title shot against Brian Cage.
  3. Havoc fights Su Yung , next week.
  4. Tenille Dashwood debuted and brawled with Taya Valkyrie.
  5. Ace Austin had Reno Scum dress up as muggers and rob Alisha Edwards, so he could pretend to save her property.
  6. The North fights LAX for the tag titles in a Loser Leaves Town Match.
  7. Moose fights Fallah Bahh, next week.

Final Verdict: 2.8/5

This was a decent show that began and ended well, but needed some help in the middle.
