‘Ring of Honor’ Wrestling Review (Aug 18th 2019)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have two matches. That’s it. ROH TV is starting to piss me off. Who runs this damn thing? It’s Vince Russo, isn’t it? If he says bro I’m gonna lose it! Wait…I said bro! Ahhhhhhhh! Hold on, these are title matches. Maybe we have a chance?

Match #1: Kelly Klein beat Karissa Rivera – Women Of Honor World Title Match

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

Klein dominated Rivera early, hitting a front-face DDT and fallaway slam. Klein went for a second fallaway slam, but Rivera slipped out and landed a pump kick. Rivera followed with a spinebuster for a near fall. Klein recovered and hit K-Power for the win. After the match, Sumie Sakai came out and helped up Rivera. Sakai, who lost to Rivera in the youngster’s debut match in WOH three weeks ago on TV, has become her mentor. Klein grabbed a microphone and said that Rivera has the endorsement of a legendary WOH World Champion in Sakai, and when Rivera is ready, she will give her another shot at the title. Klein and Rivera embraced.

My Opinion: 2 out of 5 – This wasn’t very good, but they tried. I can’t tell you this felt like a proper prize fight, but I can tell you that Geico can save you up to 15% on your car insurance. Klein and Rivera have potential, but they feel like the Wrong Trousers. That’s a Wallace and Gromit joke. Cheddar? Okay, there isn’t much to say about this match, so let’s move on before Conan O’Brien combs his hair.

Match #2: (Main Event) Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO and Brody King w/Flip Gordon) vs. Shinobi Shadow Squad (Cheeseburger, Eli Isom and Ryan Nova) – Ring Of Honor World Six-Man Tag Team Title Match

The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:

PCO dominated early until Isom got into the match. Isom back-body-dropped PCO over the top rope onto Scurll and King on the floor. Isom then hit a springboard moonsault onto to all three members of Villain Enterprises on the floor. 3S tossed PCO into the ring. All three members covered him, but PCO kicked out at two. Later, King tagged in and ran wild on all three members of 3S. Nova countered Scurll’s attempt at a chicken wing and rolled him up for a two count. Scurll and King double-teamed Nova. Scurll stretched Nova across his knees, and King landed a senton on him for the win.

My Opinion: 2 out of 5 – This do much for me, which is a shame. They all tried here, but this was over far too quickly to be what it should have been.

Final Verdict: 2/5

What the @&%? is going on with this league? Is Donald Trump booking this thing? I mean, politics aside, I never really pegged him as a good booker any-way…look at his hair. You need longer matches to make the show worth watching. Do it.
