The Last Week in Wrestling #32 (Wrestling Round-Up)
Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a big week to cover, so let’s make like The DUFF and punch people in the face…and review the week in wrestling.
Best Promo:
Paul Heyman Talked A Big Ol’ Bunch (WWE) – Heyman talked his ass off on Raw and was as effective as ever.
Best Moment:
White Bro Down (WWE) – Matt Riddle got attacked by Killian Dane in an excellent angle to start a feud between the two.
Best Move:
Fallaway Slam/Moonsault (Ring Of Honor) – Bandido did this move at the climax of the main event and hit it perfectly.
Best Personality:
Drake Maverick (WWE) – Drake was his usual…whatever and wonderfully so.
Best Character:
Kevin Owens (WWE) – Owens has been channeling Steve Austin for a little bit and it’s working.
Best Performance:
The Briscoes (Ring Of Honor) – In the main event of Manhattan Mayhem, The Briscoes had one of their best performances of the year in a violent, grueling thriller of a Street Fight against Guerrillas of Destiny.
Best Wrestler:
Jonathan Gresham (Ring Of Honor) – Three shows in one week with three great performances made Gresham the best wrestler of the week.
Best Card:
Manhattan Mayhem (Ring Of Honor) – With only one match failing to deliver, a great card did precisely what it should, which is to provide great wrestling.
Best Show:
Manhattan Mayhem (Ring Of Honor) – This was really damn good. I could even be persuaded to give the show a higher numerical rating.
Best Match:
Chad Gable versus Jack Gallagher (WWE) – This was one hell of a match between two people who may be one of the best pairings of the year.
Best League:
Ring Of Honor – With three shows in one week, ROH had more than just a little success, warts and all.
______
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
This was another strong week for wrestling that had more than enough action to make it worth coming on back for the next one.
