The History of CS: GO

by James Smith

CS: GO must have done something right to be where it is today. With the rise of the game, CS: GO match betting has been on the rise just the same way, earning lots of money and bringing more popularity to the shooting game. But what hides behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Here’s what you need to find out about your favorite eSport.

The First Trace of CS: GO

Initially, Counter-Strike was released as a mod for Half-Life, so it was hard to imagine that it would get to where it is in the present day. The mod happened in 1999, and after a while, the actual game was released in 2000, following Valve teaming up with Jess Cliffe and Minh Le, the developers of the game. What nobody expected was its sudden boost in popularity. After a short time, the game has gained a huge audience.

Game Versions

Over the following years, CS: GO has had some more games released, and the next one following its initial release was Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. Released in 2004, this version wasn’t exactly the best one out of them, and the reviews were mixed. Some people weren’t fond of the time it took to develop the game, or the graphics, as they expected better given it was 2004 and other games looked better.

Then came the next version, respectively Counter-Strike: Source. It was released in 2004 as well, and unlike the previous game, this one actually got many positive reviews, making it the 2nd most successful one in the series.

And then, the next one was the one we know to this day, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which was released in 2012 and is the most successful one. From the very beginning, it took over Steam, and its popularity has spread so much that tournaments are held surrounding it, and CS: GO betting is possible as well.

In addition, there have been a few more games added to the series, such as Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies. This one is the same as the original games, the only difference being that it’s with zombies.

Final Thoughts

It’s always nice to see where a successful game has started. CS: GO is definitely a game that will go down in history because of its success over the years, despite facing some criticism with some previous versions. Enjoy the game, watch the tournaments and bet on CS: GO, and you’ll have an amazing time for sure.
