Trailer Park: The Secret Piercing Life of Glass Hearts 3

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to the latest installment of Trailer Park, our semi-regular look at the latest trailers to hit the interwebs. This edition features a gaggle of trailers for both forthcoming movies AND video games… including: Kingdom Hearts 3, Glass, Nippon Marathon, Crucible of the Vampire, Netflix’s Kingdom, Doom Room and more!

KINGDOM HEARTS III

As unexpected events began to unfold in the Disney worlds at the hands of the enemy’s dark ambitions, the heroic trio of Sora, Donald, and Goofy find adventures ahead, from aquatic battles in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean to dances with the townspeople in the Kingdom of Corona from Tangled. The new footage also showcases Stitch from Lilo and Stitch as a special “link” (summon), as well as cooking-themed Ratatouille Keyblade attacks. Footage of Kairi wielding a Keyblade, as well as heartfelt conversations between members of Organization XIII, and glimpses of Sora’s Nobody all point to new pieces of the title’s storyline.

GLASS

M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone Pictures, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

NIPPON MARATHON

Nippon Marathon – billed as Micro Machines meets Takeshi’s Castle – is a hell for leather race across Japan and finally out! Slip into your Narwhal Onesie, Lobster Suit, School Uniform or… er… dog body and charge through locations across Japan! The local multiplayer mode is the best way to embrace the madness that is Nippon Marathon! Gather your friends on the couch (or Tatami) and watch them fly head-first into stacks of boxes, ride uncontrollable shopping carts down a giant bowling alley and finally find out what it feels like to run full speed into a wooden wall that you thought was made of paper! However, if you want to train for your next race, the AI will make for great sparring partners in both Story Mode and Versus Mode. Stay at the front of the pack to make your competitors disappear at the end of the screen and gain stars – then the race resets to the last checkpoint until the finish line where the racer with the most stars wins! Easy, right? Absolutely, if it weren’t for throwable fruits, shopping carts, inflatable pineapples, collapsing tracks, clingy Shiba Inus, water melon rains and many more hilarious hazards!

CRUCIBLE OF THE VAMPIRE

Starring British acting favourite Neil Morrissey (Line of Duty, Men Behaving Badly), alongside rising stars Katie Goldfinch and Florence Cady, this brooding vampire tale gives a strong nod to classic British horror greats and the genre defining Hammer Horror films. A young museum curator Isabelle (Katie Goldfinch) is sent to look at an ancient artefact, discovered in the basement of a stately home in Shropshire. Welcomed into the sprawling manor house by a seemingly hospitable family; Karl (Larry Rew), his wife Evelyn (Babette Barat) and their beautiful daughter Scarlet (Florence Cady), but all is not what it seems, as a dark and terrifying secret hangs over them. When Isabelle discovers the truth within the mansion’s foreboding walls, can she escape the clutches of its malevolent occupants?

KINGDOM

In a kingdom defeated by corruption and famine, a mysterious rumor of the king’s death spreads, as does a strange plague that renders the infected immune to death and hungry for flesh. The crown prince, fallen victim to a conspiracy, sets out on a journey to unveil the evil scheme and save his people.

DOOM ROOM

Jon Keeyes’ (The Harrowing) upcoming horror Doom Room stars Debbie Rochon (Bloody Ballet), Nicholas Ball (Red Dwarf’), Johanna Stanton (Sinatra: All or Nothing at All), Hayden Tweedie (The Harrowing) and Matthew Tompkins (Prison Break); and sees a woman wake up locked in a small room with no memory of how she arrived there. Unable to escape, and tormented by a series of paranormal entities, she must uncover the riddle of who she is and how she got here.

THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2

The Secret Life of Pets 2 will follow summer 2016’s blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy will produce the sequel to the comedy that had the best opening ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.

PIERCING

Reed (Christopher Abbott) is going on a business trip. He kisses his wife and infant son goodbye, but in lieu of a suitcase filled with clothes, he’s packed a toothbrush and a murder kit. Everything is meticulously planned: check into a hotel and kill an unsuspecting victim. Only then will he rid himself of his devious impulses and continue to be a good husband and father. But Reed gets more than he bargained for with Jackie (Mia Wasikowska), an alluring call girl who arrives at his room. First, they relax and get in the mood, but when there’s an unexpected disruption, the balance of control begins to sway back and forth between the two. Is he seeing things? Who’s playing whom? Before the night is over, a feverish nightmare will unfold, and Reed and Jackie will seal their bond in blood.

JUMP FORCE

The sudden merger between the Real World and the Jump World, has resulted in chaos enveloping the Earth, with the invading villains leaving a trail of death, destruction and panic in their wake. To tackle this new threat, a new team of heroes, the Jump Force, is formed by Director Glover featuring the strongest fighters from across the manga universe. Players will be able to create their own hero, customising their look and fighting moves with elements from across all your favourite franchises, before joining up with the Jump Force to stop the villains in their tracks.
