‘NXT: Take-Over – WarGames 2’ Preview & Predictions

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this preview of NXT: Take-Over – WarGames 2, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a fun card to look at, so let’s do so.

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane (2-out-of-3 Falls Match)

My Take: This should be a hell of fight between two people that have proven they know how to work together. Sane will take Baszler’s offense and make it look grueling, while the latter will do the same for the former. I think Shayna will retain, if only because having the legitimate fighter as champion would appeal to Triple H and, presumably, Vince McMahon himself.

Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano

My Take: This should be a great match. Johnny as a heel is a questionable decision, but as long as the match works, then people will ignore the odd feeling of the hero being a scoundrel. Johnny winning, as this should get to be a long feud, so Black can get the victory later.

NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Velveteen Dream

My Take: This will be a good match, but I can’t see Dream doing what other challengers would do, unless this match is meant to be the beginning of a more aggressive Velveteen Dream, which would do wonders for his career. Ciampa will win in a match that may end up being a foot-note in his career.

Ricochet, Pete Dunne & The War Raiders vs. The Undisputed ERA (WarGames Match)

My Take: This should be a great match and a fantastic spectacle as well. I think this will be better than the War-Games match from last year. The Undisputed ERA should win this match by a narrow margin, to allow the faces a reprieve from losing to the heels.

Final Thoughts:

This should be a real winner of an event, as there is such a simple focus on quality over quantity here, which is represented by the small card. I don’t see any match on the card failing in the execution and they all will be worth the viewing.
